Excessive sweating

Recently I've been doing just that!
I'm not ailing in any way, certainly not losing weight, sadly, but I find that I'm literally dripping with sweat at some point each day. (And all of the night!)
Its getting embarrassing.
Does anyone else suffer this problem, or have any suggestions to help, please?
I went through the menopause around 4 or 5 years ago, so I don't think its connected to that.

My DIL (47) has been suffering with this for several years now. She's had all sorts of tests but they can't seem to find the cause and say she's not in the menopause yet. She works in a supermarket and finds it so embarrassing - her clothes are soaked so she wears her work fleece to hide it which obviously exacerbates the problem. I'll mention the meds issue as she's been on mild anti depressants on and off for quite a while. She's also overweight and has done a lot to try and reduce that but can't seem to lose it. I mentioned the thyroid problem as mine is under active which causes weight gain but again they said hers is normal.

My husband has sweated profusely all his life - mainly his head - he finds it such a nuisance especially when doing anything manual - it runs in his eyes, steams his glasses up and understandably makes him very irritable. His brother is the same. They've been working together recently doing up a bathroom and both commented on how inconvenient it is and how people keep asking if they're ok! Their father was the same so it looks like a hereditary thing - strangely their sister only sweats on one side of her face which is a bit bizarre.

I hope you find the cause of your problem Miss A - it's not pleasant at all.

Try and cut out caffeine. If the sweats are in any way hormone related caffeine will not be your friend.
I have found a huge difference in switching to decaff. It really doesn't taste any different (well the tea anyway as I can't drink coffee).
My sweats are usually confined to my scalp and face. It's awful and not a great look. I have every sympathy with you.
If I could afford the BOTOX injections (Not for cosmetic reasons, although others might say my face could use some improvement lol) that prevent sweating I would give them a go.....
?????? I hope it's a simple answer for you.

I too suffer with Hyperhidrosis, nowhere but my head face and neck and it is making me feel disgusting I have had it all my life to a much lesser extent, but for years now, it is more possibly medication side effects, but I am a redhead and my Dad was just the same .....

Recently though I have been diagnosed with Sjogrens Syndrome (a disorder of your immune system identified by its two most common symptoms — dry eyes and a dry mouth, but can be much more involved than that and can led to organ damage etc etc) So for my dry mouth I take gels and lozenges and false saliva, drops for my eyes and emollients for my skin but on top of that I also take a drug called Pilocarpine which stimulates the secreting parts of my body - especially my HEAD! It runs off me, i look like I have been out in the rain and am very embarrassed about it all and am becoming increasing anxious about going out and looking like it. However, I can always take another drug to dry up said secretions, but that one sucks the living juice out of me, and am then dehydrated, unable to eat only drink and you can see the bright red heat in my face trying to burst out of me - it is vile and wouldn't wish it on anyone sad xx

I went thorugh the menoipause about twelve years ago but lately, I find that I am in a phase where my husband needs a duvet on the bed and I just need a sheet. I think this cold sweat must simply come and go.

I'm still laying on top of my bed, with the window open, the curtain pulled back, and my bum hanging out! blush

Willow500, might be worth suggesting to your hubby and his brother to try a sort of cotton headband which keeps the sweat out of your eyes. You see tennis players wearing them. If they are somewhere that no one is able to see them, they might be agreeable to trying them.

I have this problem and I have an under active thyroid problem. The excessive sweating has been put down to my autonomic system being completely burnt out owing to a stressful job which I retired from years ago. Apparently if you live on the edge, on adrenaline all the time, any subsequent stress triggers the fight or flight syndrome, which in my case means I break out into perspiration so bad it's dripping off my hair! I try to wear thin cool clothes and avoid difficult social situations. But just fumbling in my purse for the right change whilst an intolerant shop assistant looks on is enough to bring it on. There doesn't seem to be any help for me, but good luck to you. ?
