Marvellous news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will actually be visiting Melbourne! smile
Would be even more marvellous if they could announce that another pair of tiny Royal feet is on the way. Can't wait! blush

Rufus2 Fri 14-Sept-18 13:42:02

I hope they have a fabulous time in Melbourne
Grannygravy; Thanks for bringing this thread back from the brink. smile
Yes! Prince Harry is doing good things and the Invictus Games is just one example. But I can't recommend a Royal Barbie by the Yarra. Following our recent severe drought I imagine its colour has changed from its usual mid beige to a sort of green, although I haven't witnessed it yet.
Anyone could fall into it through wearing high heels, or they could easily be jostled accidentally into it and then require about 25 injections. sad
It's a responsibility I can't afford to take so I'll just concentrate on a Royal Barbie on Bondi beach as someone requested.

Rufus2 Sat 15-Sept-18 12:23:32

I think they are a lovely couple, particularly Prince Harry
You'll be as thrilled as everyone else to know that David Beckham is joining Prince Harry's team for The Games. grin
I do so hope that Victoria attends and even comes to Melb. I like her! intelligent, sultry and mysterious. wink

gillybob Sat 15-Sept-18 13:28:47

Are you having a giraffe rufus ?

shock

Anniebach Sat 15-Sept-18 13:59:18

Good grief , intelligent, sultry and mysterious!

Jalima1108 Sat 15-Sept-18 14:07:11

He did wink Annie

Is the terrible drought affecting your food supplies, Rufus?

I remember in 1976 when we had a mini-drought here in the UK, someone in Bristol invited a Native American over here to do a rain dance.
It worked - perhaps Prince Harry could perform one? Although you need it done sooner than that I think - have you consulted your own rainmakers?

annep Sat 15-Sept-18 14:23:03

Nooo! Diana that would spoil my favourite soap

Gillybob loving your comments ?

Rufus2 Sat 15-Sept-18 14:30:55

Native American over here to do a rain dance
Did he get wet and die of pneumonia? grin
We have plenty of native dancers who prance around a lot, but all they produce are tourists.

gillybob Sat 15-Sept-18 14:33:54

Blimey I didn’t know Neighbours was still going! I remember watching it when it first started with Kylie and Jason. I bet none of the original characters are there now are they annep ?

VB always looks so miserable though Ruf you would think she had woken up next to my DH instead of Day-Vid .....and she’s so stick thin......envy

Jalima1108 Sat 15-Sept-18 14:40:12

gillybob

can't stop laughing!
I bet your DH is lovely and doesn't have that many tattoos! (a turn-off for me)

Rufus no, the Native American did a good job and then went home
it's too long ago for a link

gillybob Sat 15-Sept-18 14:59:12

He is lovely really Jalima and not a tattoo in sight. smile

Jalima1108 Sat 15-Sept-18 15:15:31

smile

Rufus2 Sat 15-Sept-18 15:18:56

He is lovely really Jalima and not a tattoo in sight
But how's your vision; or does he invoke the privacy laws?. grin
Btw Sorry I mistook you yesterday for being a republican: your nickname fooled me into thinking you were actually a DH!
Have you thought of doing a name change to ,say, GillyBarb? shock

Anniebach Sat 15-Sept-18 15:42:07

I watch Neighbours ?, only soap I do watch

gillybob Sat 15-Sept-18 15:57:30

I’ve never considered a name change Rufus been here since day one and always been Gillybob although I do sometimes get “Billygob” which I’m sure must be a slip of the keyboard wink

My close up vision is great. Too good sometimes ...... a bit of blurring goes a long way in making someone more attractive don’t think ?
My distance leaves a lot to be desired though. smile

gillybob Sat 15-Sept-18 16:01:48

Oooops Don’t you think?

starbird Sat 15-Sept-18 16:22:42

It will be a good occasion for Meg to wear more non British designer clothes. Will HM look after the dog while they are gone?

Can’t imagine her being pregnant, but hopefully it will happen eventually - no need to rush into it.

I think Kate just loves being pregnant and having small babies. Why shouldm’t she? The Queen has four children. William will just have to work harder to justify the added expense.

annep Sat 15-Sept-18 22:54:22

I'm glad someone else watches Anniebach. Everyone laughs at me watching.
Gillybob Paul Robinson, Karl and Susan Kennedy are still in it.

Rufus2 Sun 16-Sept-18 07:09:19

Oooops Don’t you think?

Gillybarb; Who? Me? Being a naturally shy person I only think just before I speak!
Of course, I sometimes forget to think before I type!

Ooops; I get it!. I thought, (or think!) we were talking about me being attractive. Possibly, 70 years ago! My vision is still good, near or far, so you'll look just as attractive where ever you are. blush
A quote attributed to Hedy Lamarr (before your time?); "any girl can look glamorous. All she has to do is stand still and look stupid!"
I've known a few who'd qualify for the second bit! grin
Now we must really get back to the thread topic and get our thoughts together on how we can give the Royals a right dinkum Aussie welcome. Any thoughts anyone? We've already had Barbies.

jenpax Sun 16-Sept-18 07:23:07

Didn’t Paul Robinson leave and come back? Also the character known as Toady wasn’t he in it as a teenager but is now a lawyer?

annep Sun 16-Sept-18 08:06:49

Yes Paul Robinson left and came back. Toadie has been in the cast a long time but I don't think he's an original cast member.

annep Sun 16-Sept-18 08:18:46

I just googled it. Paul would appear to be the only original cast member.
Mrs Mangel was also Mrs Jessup in my other favourite soap The Sullivans.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 08:42:14

Wasn’t Clive in the original cast?

gillybob Sun 16-Sept-18 08:50:08

Oh I remember Mrs Mangel, Jim Robinson, the Bishops and Mike (someone or other, who was gorgeous).

I’m only 56 Rufus so yes Hedy Lamar was a touch before my time (have heard of her though) .

Jalima1108 Sun 16-Sept-18 09:58:15

I used to likeThe Sullivans too, annep

Right now, a royal Aussie welcome hmm

I'll keep thinking

gillybob Sun 16-Sept-18 10:16:26

On the subject of the rf , I note that the BBC have refused to cover Eugenies forthcoming wedding as they think the ratings will be poor . Apparently daddy “air miles” is in talks with ITV to persuade them to cover it? Oh dear. Well I for one won’t be watching it. I didn’t watch any of her cousins, uncle etc. so won’t be making an exception for a Yorkie .
