I was in Liberty's on Saturday after visiting the Shard. They have an entire floor given over to Christmas. We had a look round but didn't buy anything.

Mini Did they have that special section again to display the beautiful baubles that they sell ?,I have bought 2 over the past couple of years and may treat myself again if I manage to get there again this year.

I bought a new C word tree the other day, but only so that the good stuff didn`t sell out too soon, it`s now out of sight for 3 months.

I heard a few years ago that the reason Liberty of London start their Christmas display so early in the year, is due to the huge influx of overseas visitors. Makes sense.
I have been there in early December, and stocks were quite depleted.

It was very busy with lots of Japanese tourists. They had baubles aplenty glamma. We didn't want anything, but it was interesting to have a look.

Its only 3 pay cheques to go. I always spread it out from nowish so its not a big hit on the current account in december.

I have a huge number of people that I buy gifts for and could never afford it if I didn't buy a few each month and put them away. I also pick up quite a lot of bargains throughout the year so although I stick to my budget the perceived value of what I buy often impresses the recipient.

It does seem a bit early but, if you don't want to buy Christmas things yet, just ignore it. Some people like to buy things throughout the year to spread the cost.

JackyB, When and how do, you add the rum? Or do you drink that separately out of a glass so it won't go off.
Whoopee! Our local Woolworths are now stocking mince pies, made in N.Z, use-by date 30/4/19; 7 months away so they obviously have sufficient preservative.

Harvesters Restaurants were advertising their Christmas menu back at the beginning of July and taking bookings. We booked our cottage getaway by the sea for the Christmas Week in June.

I have always made the C cake in early September.

I have started buying some Christmas presents as I need to spread out the spending. I find buying from some online places if I don't buy some items early they run out of certain sizes and you can't guarantee to get them . I love Christmad and like to be extravagant but not loads of money so hence this is the way I budget

Oh noooo! Ive seen them too and quickly averted my eyes and tried not to feel depressed. Wish I could wind the clock forward to January 6th. [Sad]

Haven't seen any mince pies yet - a colleague used to buy and scoff the M&S ones as soon as they appeared!

I still make mine, first batch of 24 trad. ones usually go in the oven on 1st Dec. , with first carols on at the same time. And v likely a glass or 3 of mulled wine....

I still make Chr. pud, too - love the smell when mixing up, though often don't get round to it until December. Old GH recipe, not nearly as dense and heavy as most shop ones.

Making plans and booking already for the things I'm in involved in or else it wont happen - lots to do.

Looove Christmas as do all my family. However, I avert my eyes from anything prior to mid-November though like other PPs I buy the odd thing in a sale if it will last/not go out of fashion/is cheaper than it will be in December. But between now and then I should be moving house and doing autumn things like making preserves .... which will turn up at Christmas, no doubt.

Oh, and don't get me started on chocolate/toy Advent Calendars. The only good Advent Calendar is either the one that celebrates the real meaning of Christmas or at a pinch the refillable ones which can also do so.

alchemilla where do you get your pagan mid winter light festival and feast advent calendars from then? I haven't seen any about
