Why??

Some of you may remember a few days ago I posted about my frustration in trying to contact my bank. This morning I received a phone call from them saying they wanted to discuss the problem, but before they could I would need to answer some security questions.

They rang me so why should I be the one having to answer security questions? Shouldn't they be the ones having to prove who they are?

I refused to answer and told them I was not comfortable giving my bank security replies to someone who had telephoned me and suggested if they needed to contact me they use the email address they have for me or write to me. I would add they have never telephoned me before

Was I being over cautious?

Willow I hope you take your clothes direct to air ambulance shop as putting it in bags you get through the door means nearly all the money goes to a rag collector and not the shop. Read the bag carefully.

We don't have an air ambulance shop nearby, but we do have their own collection bin at the local supermarket along with a hospice bin. I alternate between the two.

If we get phone calls purporting to be from our bank we always put them through OUR security system which involves things like what date did the last standing order go through and who was the payee etc etc. They were a bit flummoxed the first time it happened and then bemused but compliant. grin
