We've had Dry January, and Stoptober, now there is Scroll Free September. Launched by the Royal Society for Public Health and endorsed by the NHS, it is aimed at helping people to take back control of their use of social media.
The campaign asks users to stop or cut down use of all personal (not work) social media accounts on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat for the month (instant messaging apps such as WhatsApp are allowed).
And for those who will bleat say (including HQ no doubt) "What about Gransnet?"
there are four levels of disengagement from "Cold Turkey" to "Night Owl".
Being online and constantly on their phones affecting people's lives - who'd have thought?!
