mason, I'm sorry to hear about your dil and grandson.

Lots of people on gn have terrible problems in their lives and these light hearted threads help them in a small way.

You are obviously very unhappy, as would anyone be, and lighthearted threads aren't helping you but please try not to let your feelings spoil things for them.

If it would help, please start a thread to talk about what is going on in your life - we might be able to help.

mabon1....I’m so sorry you’re having such a terrible time. It’s precisely because I’m having a tough time that lighthearted threads like this give me a bit of light relief. I’m sporting a short sleeved light blue Boden top today. We don’t call them Boden,we prefer Johnny as he voices his own telephone answer message starting with”Johnny here”. No accessories as I’ve spent the last hour fighting the maggot infestation in my wheely bin.

Methinks, if nobody is being deprived and you look and feel good then carry on stripe-ing. Lovely!

Everybody has problems and sometimes its nice to have a pleasant few minutes away from them.

Why not try vertical stripes for a change?Or one of the lovely tops available with stripes and little flowers,have seen a few ladies wearing them recently.BonMarche sell one I think.

My addiction used to be flowing cotton skirts. It is now Italian linen balloon dresses... In my defence I have got rid of a load of skirts...hahaha

horrendous and so empathise. Moving so trying to declutter and tipped everything onto the king size bed in a mountain as they say to do ( can almost see clouds scudding by it's so high)- I have not only the same style tops in various colours but discovering exactly THE SAME ONE in different sizes. Enough to last the next 3 generations - anyone seen the new long skirts with a ruffle on the side...I've got 3 of those from 60s onwards - triumphantly brandished in DH nose to justify my inner/outer hoarder. sigh.

Shock horror ! that you have an addiction to striped tops?. Take the whole lot to a charity shop which will give you the space to start all over again.

Recently I was approached by a very nice man who chatted to me in a very familiar way. He then realised I was not his wife, just wearing the same striped top!

My daughter probably has about twelve Breton striped tops. They are lovely.

I have about twelve tops in either black or white.

I might try spots in a few years time if I want a change.

Thank you fish and kitty-how much of a co-incidence is that-I read mabon’s post and couldn’t think of a suitable reply quickly. Your replies hit the spot. I know there are people out there struggling with all manner of issues and I don’t want to minimise their pain. I am sure there is a tread here that will understand and support.

My post was meant to be light-hearted. I had a thread earlier this week about “stuff” and how it creeps up gradually. My wardrobe blitz sprang from that and the shock of finding so many similar things. It’s not until they are all gathered together and exposed that I realised how dire it all was. And don’t start me on the spice drawer-that’s a whole new thread in itself. Or shoes. Or handbags.
In my “stuff” thread, I spoke of me talking to my twenty year old self about the dangers of “stuff”. Here I am at sixty plus dealing with the fall out of forty plus years of “stuff” collection. I know it’s trivial.

Mine’s white tops - particularly in the summer. The minute I am in a shop I spot yet another one which might be perfect. I think I have about 15

mabon1, you're doing it again, aren't you? I'm sorry to hear of your problems. However, has it not occurred to you that many posters on this thread also have serious issues that they are faced with and coping with, but that does not mean that they cannot enjoy a little bit of lightheartedness such as is being shown on this thread. If you find it upsetting, perhaps you should avoid anything of a lighthearted nature, but please don't criticise others who do get enjoyment from these threads.

With me, it's grey cardigans...or anything grey and navy. I can't seem to stop myself. Till last week in Matalan, I found myself with yet another grey cardie in my hand on my way to checkout. Then I put it back on the rail! I'm being strict now.

Petunia, I have so many handbags I could open a handbag shop (Radley being my favourite).

I always lurch towards anything in yellow or mustardy sort of colour. In spite of the fact that I look terrible in in and have bought it in the past and never worn whatever it is that I have bought.

I still want it.

White round neck t-shirts or Bretton tops and t-shirts, so chic. As my French fashion adviser says, leave all those dreadful flowery patterns for the sofas and cushions.

Prints!! My addiction consists of print tops. If I see one I like, I can't resist. I lean towards flowers, geometric patterns, leopard spots, paisleys etc. I do notice a propensity towards Navy Blue and White or Navy, Avocado and White, Navy and Yellow....lots of Navy in my closet. Hmmm.....Does that mean anything psychological, I wonder?

Mabon, Sorry for your unhappiness. OK to release your frustrations by raining on happier threads .....just don't hit the 'send' button. Better still, why not start a thread of your own? There are many caring Gransnetters here, myself included.

Me too. I have several stripey tops and I daren’t even hazard a guess at how many pairs of linen trousers.
I don’t feel guilty, its a far better addiction to have than drugs or alcohol. ?

My best friend is a striped top addict. We have never looked at it as a problem. I bought her two new ones just recently and when we go shopping, I always point out all the garments that have stripes. They always look very smart on her
