Me too. I always home in on anything stripey, mostly blue/white although last week's purchase does have red as well; very patriotic. I have now decided to take myself in hand, after all enough is enough ...

I was once told by a rather snooty French woman that she could tell I was a Brit because I wore stripes! Noticed later how many Brits were wearing striped tops. Tried to avoid them for awhile but can't resist, so many and always look fresh and clean and also I don't mind at all looking like a Brit.

I also love stripey tops, but I don't think of myself as an addict. They are so easy to wear with trousers, jeans and skirts. I find that Seasalt and Boden are best. Wear them with pride, and don't feel embarrassed.

Joules do a lovely Harbour striped top in many colour combos (I have lots of them!) They wash and wear well and always look fresh in short, 3/4 and long sleeved versions. Striped tops are a favourite, I have tried to veer away but always come back to them as a favourite!

I have progressed to striped dresses.

Interestingly there was an article in The Times weekend magazine supplement at the beginning of this month from a woman who had a rare form of OCD resulting in her acquiring over 400 navy knitted jumpers and cardigans.
She rarely wore any of them, too many.
She would regular get up in the middle of the night to check that they were all hung or stored in the right order.
Eventually the cycle was broken when her job required her to work abroad for 3 months, on her return she realised that she could live without them.

Only 12? Joules do a nice mid season weight. I also like Boden’s long sleeve one in lots of different colours. Their stripy tunics are good too. And I’m wearing a boden cream and blue stripe vest at the moment. Love em all!

My best friend is a striped top addict. We have never looked at it as a problem. I bought her two new ones just recently and when we go shopping, I always point out all the garments that have stripes. They always look very smart on her

Me too. I have several stripey tops and I daren’t even hazard a guess at how many pairs of linen trousers.
I don’t feel guilty, its a far better addiction to have than drugs or alcohol. ?

My daughter recently bought a striped top with the slogan ‘I must stop buying striped tops’ on it. Sounds right up your street petunia.

Prints!! My addiction consists of print tops. If I see one I like, I can't resist. I lean towards flowers, geometric patterns, leopard spots, paisleys etc. I do notice a propensity towards Navy Blue and White or Navy, Avocado and White, Navy and Yellow....lots of Navy in my closet. Hmmm.....Does that mean anything psychological, I wonder?

White round neck t-shirts or Bretton tops and t-shirts, so chic. As my French fashion adviser says, leave all those dreadful flowery patterns for the sofas and cushions.

I always lurch towards anything in yellow or mustardy sort of colour. In spite of the fact that I look terrible in in and have bought it in the past and never worn whatever it is that I have bought.

mabon1, you're doing it again, aren't you? I'm sorry to hear of your problems. However, has it not occurred to you that many posters on this thread also have serious issues that they are faced with and coping with, but that does not mean that they cannot enjoy a little bit of lightheartedness such as is being shown on this thread. If you find it upsetting, perhaps you should avoid anything of a lighthearted nature, but please don't criticise others who do get enjoyment from these threads.

Thank you fish and kitty-how much of a co-incidence is that-I read mabon’s post and couldn’t think of a suitable reply quickly. Your replies hit the spot. I know there are people out there struggling with all manner of issues and I don’t want to minimise their pain. I am sure there is a tread here that will understand and support.

My post was meant to be light-hearted. I had a thread earlier this week about “stuff” and how it creeps up gradually. My wardrobe blitz sprang from that and the shock of finding so many similar things. It’s not until they are all gathered together and exposed that I realised how dire it all was. And don’t start me on the spice drawer-that’s a whole new thread in itself. Or shoes. Or handbags.
In my “stuff” thread, I spoke of me talking to my twenty year old self about the dangers of “stuff”. Here I am at sixty plus dealing with the fall out of forty plus years of “stuff” collection. I know it’s trivial.

My daughter probably has about twelve Breton striped tops. They are lovely.

I have about twelve tops in either black or white.

I might try spots in a few years time if I want a change.

I’m another stripe top hoarder. There I’ve confessed!

Recently I was approached by a very nice man who chatted to me in a very familiar way. He then realised I was not his wife, just wearing the same striped top!
