I watched the James Corden carpool karaoke with Paul McCartney recently and it had me in tears - I loved the Beatles and Paul was my favourite. Like others have said it took me back to those carefree days being a lovesick teenager - life was so simple then! How I would have loved to have been in that pub in Liverpool where he did a surprise appearance! My bedroom wall also used to be plastered with posters of Steve Ellis from Love Affair (Everlasting Love). Happy days.

Summer Holiday was my inspiration! I walked to save my bus fares and put all my loose coins in a jamjar until I was 18 and had £100 saved for a student tour of Greece in the summer of love, 1967. I sat in the dark by the Acropolis talking revolution with a German who assured me he was "on the run" and dug up pieces of ancient tile on the beach near Knossos. I can't ever go back to Greece - what a magical time it all was.

The Stones concert in Hyde Park...no, I saw them closer to home in the Assembly Hall in Tunbridge Wells! That was definitely a long time ago!

Ah yes Matelda. Corfu in 1966 before they’d even built the airport..Greek Gregory and I wrote for four years...I wonder where he is now. Sigh!

Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum reminds me of my last year at School, we had a Disco every Friday Lunchtime in our last term, I left in 1972 on my 17th Birthday.

Twelfth of Never has me in fairyland at the very thought. Magic time of my life. Perhaps should redress the balance by admitting that I loved a guy called David Whitfield. Even my Granny despaired of me over that. Such a square in some arenas!

Paul didn't appear in just any old pub, he was back at the Cavern Club.
I didn't bother trying for tickets, my Cavern days are well and truly over!
I still love Paul to bits though!
I was in my mid teens in the early seventies, so David Cassidy was one of my heartthrobs, the other was Alice Cooper!

Music has always made me so nostalgic, so I now have Spotify on my iPad and have downloaded many songs from my past. I just love listening to them and it often helps me sleep at night played very low and reminiscing on happy days from long ago.

"Beach Baby" was running through my head all last week, remembering the year I got my first car and took my A levels at the local tech - lots of freedom after years cooped up at the local girls grammar school.

I'm a music lover (pop/rock etc, but just listening as I'm not musical myself). I'd be lost without music in my life. I love golden oldies particularly late 60s wen I was in my mid teens. So nostalgic. My favourite song at the moment with the lovely weather we've been having is Summer Breeze by the Isley Brothers. Just reminds me of long summer days of my youth and my first loves.

i listen/sort of watch to vintage tv and they play music from the 50s onwards.
i have an alexa echo dot and get loads of music from amazon (for free). several songs i haven't heard for years are available from there and i've selected some of these as well as newer favourites and my alexa shuffles the 400+ of my favourite songs and plays them all day - better than any radio or jumping up to change tape/vinyl/cd.
one song which takes me back to the 60s and the fairground us "wipeout" by the surfaris - the first thing you hear is a loud laugh and i, for one, am transported back to the fair on torquay's harbourside - those gorgeous boys, the heat, the candyfloss!
mind you i left torquay almost 31 years ago but that laugh on that song wipes 50 odd years right away.
i love all those old memories, sad and happy - so many songs, so many memories.

Wasn't "Jesamine" No.1 for quite a while? Lovely, lovely song.

And a group called Amen Corner were pretty hot around the same time - I recall buying all their singles but the fave was definitely one called "Bend me, shape me". My salad days, but were did the years go......?

I used to think Andy Fairweather Low was the hottest thing back then. When I saw him a few years ago on Shooting Stars, not so much!

Looked on YouTube and surprised to find that I remembered most of the lyrics and all of the tune. Yes...my yoyth was a very very innocent, carefree and happy one. TG.

The first record I bought was Poetry In Motion - Johnny Tillotson but I collected pics of Bobby Vee. Used to spfnd Saturday mirnings in the Kardomah in Church St and dance in the Rialto ballroom, Cavern, Blue Angel, Chequers and a million other northern clubs. On visits to London we would eat at the Old Kentucky Pancake Kitchen - Leicester Square and Dinty Moore's, an underground bar with sawdust on the floor.

I have been listening to lots of the songs mrntioned and they really do take you back to people, sights, places, smells and clothes etc. I think the sadness which tinges our nostalgia is a sense of loss. I don't think we appreciated what we had at the time but we certainly do now!

Juggernaut. Although Paul did do a concert at the Cavern recently, as janieuk said, on James Corden’s carpool karaoke show he popped into a Liverpool pub and did a few songs. It was brilliant and you can see it on YouTube. Definitely worth a look.

My first great love aged 12 was Buddy Holly (inconsolable when he was killed) and I still have a CD of his on in my car 60 years later. Bobby Vee, Bobby Rydell, Ricky Nelson, Del Shannon, Neil Sedaka - oh such happy memories of carefree schooldays!

I adored the Beatles and later in the 60s I was very keen on The Lovin' Spoonful with John Sebastian. 70s was Abba, The Eagles and Doctor Hook and of course the unsurpassable Queen.

Just a short burst of melody and all the lyrics - and all the memories - come flooding back!

Charles Aznavour in concert singing Happy Anniversay . I was with my late husband and it was our wedding anniversay. Still makes me cry when I think of it.
