When did this become the norm?- with the spectators too. I don't remember Connors et al doing this.

I am not sure I like it.

Never mind fist waving, will somebody pleeeeease win this match?

Anniebach Fri 13-Jul-18 19:28:09

Conners was too busy arguing to wave fists

Was rooting for Anderson
Losing the will to live?

Nadal wont be a happy bunny

Cherrytree59 Fri 13-Jul-18 19:32:27

Apparently Nadal is playing marblesgrin

They'd better get a move on. The Proms starts in an hour.

It is interesting that every game Anderson plays he is basically playing to stay in the match - I have almost forgotten that as they just keep on keeping on. I love the way they bounce around prior to serving/receiving - I couldn't do that even!

I am worried about the umpire - surely she needs a wee by now!

merlotgran Fri 13-Jul-18 19:35:12

grin Luckygirl. DH has just said the same thing.

Luckygirl Fri 13-Jul-18 19:38:15

Ah - great minds!

Luckygirl Fri 13-Jul-18 19:39:29

I am impressed by his sympathy for the female bladder! grin

merlotgran Fri 13-Jul-18 19:43:43

Come on, Anderson.

DH knows better than to not have sympathy for the female bladder. grin

Phew Epic match
6 hours 35 minutes!!

Anniebach Fri 13-Jul-18 19:53:23

Excellent match

Never mind fist-waving - it is the BBC which is annoying me intensely.

Why oh why, when someone has been on court for hours (was it 5 hours 35 minutes?) in a very gruelling match do they have to interview them?

Please, BBC, we do not need an intensive interview of a winner after they have been on court for so long - or for any length of time in fact.

And while I'm on my soap box - surely a tie-break should be allowed at this stage (perhaps not in the actual final). The result of this match is two excellent and exhausted players, one of whom will have to play in the final on Sunday.

Rant over!

Brilliant game, shame someone had to lose.

Cherrytree59 Fri 13-Jul-18 20:01:31

Agree
Anderson came across as very humble
and a good sportsmansmile.

Jalima1108 Fri 13-Jul-18 20:03:56

sorry, 6 hours 35 minutes!

Luckygirl Fri 13-Jul-18 20:48:04

It is crazy - surely they could rule for a tie-break at 12:12 for instance. Dragging it out so long is pointless - the players are just going through the motions by then; and it becomes a boring spectacle.

And I agree about the interview - especially as it went on so long. A quick word of congratulations and then let the poor man get in the shower.

merlot - I initially started to write "his grasp of the female bladder" but somehow it did not look quite right! grin

Anniebach Fri 13-Jul-18 20:51:16

Borg is in the box, he too is aging

merlotgran Sat 14-Jul-18 14:13:28

I don't know which is more annoying. Nadal's OCD or Djokovic's endless ball bouncing.

Great tennis though.

Anniebach Sat 14-Jul-18 14:15:15

It’s OCD, remember Goran ? ?

Jangran99 Sat 14-Jul-18 17:39:58

Remind me why the ladies matches are worth the same prize money hmm

Jalima1108 Sat 14-Jul-18 19:25:13

I don't know Jangran
hmm too

Jalima1108 Sat 14-Jul-18 19:25:27

ps if they want equality they should play five sets

Jalima1108 Sat 14-Jul-18 19:27:48

I will always remember Goran, he had just played at Wimbledon the first time we visited Croatia (then Yugoslavia).
We decided if we got lost or into any trouble we would just say Goran Ivanisevic and give a thumbs up!
