Feeling depressed

My family life is quite frankly a car crash.
If I allowed myself to dwell on it as I did in the earlier days I would not be here now. Just allow yourself to think about it for a few minutes a day, never at night if you can get away with that, but then get on with the things you can control and do not allow the bad things to ruin your life.
They will if you let them, don't let this happen.

Thank you everyone for words of support. I think i was having a 'bit of blip' yesterday over everything due to feeling tired after not sleeping well for a few nights due to the heat. As we all know, tiredness affects us mentally, physcially and emtionally. Feeling brighter today . smile

Yes travels I have felt like this at times with all our family’s
Ill health, there is just so much of it.
I help them in a practical way, including a sympathetic ear,
But now just can’t let it get to me, so refuse to constantly think about things I cannot change. It’s not doing me or them any good, so I have mentally ‘let it go’ and feel better as a result.I don’t think too far ahead now, and have accepted that what will be, will be.
I do hope you will find a way to do the same.

I am so very sorry, do seek support and you are not a coward, I have been in despair for quite some time, take things one day at a time , you will come through this X

Travelsafar I do feel for you as I have been overwhelmed recently with my DS's awful divorce and the effect on my two grandsons. I got to the point of sobbing on most days.

I eventually went to my GP and I am so pleased I did she recommended me to the local Mental Health Group and I was receiving help within days. I am having something called CBT cognitive behaviour therapy for anxiety and stress. This may be just what will help you settle down and see things from a different angle.

There are always the Samaritans. There is help out there you just have to ask for it. Mental Health is pretty high on the agenda now.

Very best of luck.

Don't know if this will help but if I feel like that about my particular worrying situation I say to myself "I mustn't think about that now, I will think about it while I am in the shower" Then I actually do allow myself to think about it when I am in the shower, and I can cry without anyone knowing.

It really does sound as though you just have too much on your plate just now - too much to worry about - too much for one brain to deal with.

Is there someone a bit apart from the situation whom you might be able to talk to? If not, then looking for a private counselor might help - someone to open up to and get an outside view.

If you truly feel that this is depression, then the GP is the way to go.

Please look after yourself.

I feel your pain travelsafar. I too have been in your position more than once. Suffice to say there is light at the end of the long dark tunnel. Without going into too much detail it took time, talking things through with someone I could trust and ,in my case, anti-depressants.
I do hope you can find a way to make life more bearable flowers.

Should have previewed!

...empty your brain of it for a while and stop the thoughts from swirling around.

You do sound overwhelmed. Is there anything you can constructively do or is it a matter of waiting for it all coming out in the wash?

Maybe try writing it all down - that can sometimes sort of empty your brain if it for a while and stop the thoughts from around.

I have this overwhelming desire to cry my heart out about various issues in my life right now.My OH my GC,DIL my eldest son, plus i worry about my dearest sister and her health. I feel like a rabbit trapped in headlights, scared to act, say or do anything about the situations going on incase it all blows up in my face, i worry that makes me a coward but i just couldnt cope with anymore upsets. I try to forget what is happening but it pops into my head several times a day. Has anyone else ever felt this way and managed to overcome it???
