Well I believe it is Rufus2 91st on the 8th. We are holding an impromptu virtual party for him. All you need to do is say what you are bringing or doing and what you will wear.
Rufus has promised to be on his best behaviour ?
I will be DJing and wearing a rather fetching sparkly purple jump suit. And before you ask Rufus you can't come in your Birthday suit, this is a respectable party.
Over to you.
Very happy birthday from us all at HQ, Rufus. We'll have the paracetamol at the ready for the morning after.
Waterloo I give up what was that bl**dy anagram ?
In answer to your query about previous virtual celebrations Rufus yes we have had a few
There is usually a N.Y.E. one
To much champers, hic, seem to have nodded off in the corner, what am I doing with all these shoes..... is it all a dream...........
So you had my shooslulu
Just leave the shoes there, Prince Charming has gone to bed now
Shlo shlorry NanKate for not coming back - I went out to buy some more sparkly in my bunny costume and was waylaid by Chaz and Dave. Anyway, back to anagram. Well surprise, surprise ladies, I have tickets for us all next Wednesday. Yes we will be partying and dancing to Midnight in Moscow (Kenny Ball). Hic hic. Is it too late for you to play it?
Nankate is slumped over her record player, headphones askew with a record playing silently in the lights of the glitterball.
I now have 6 shoes, none match...
Where am I? Why do I have these headphones on? I’ve had this very odd dream of being with a lot of tipsy grans at some celebration. I wonder if it was the World Cup. I must admit there was stacks of good food and drinks about - a proper bash. I did think though that the cheese and pineapple on sticks was a bit 1960s.
There was this Ozzie bloke sitting on a bench singing loudly and playing his diggerydoo. He was rather good he asked if if I would like a kiss for every year of his life. I declined his kind offer.
Some dream or perhaps a nightmare at times.
Night folks, it’s been a long day. ???
Wednesday. Yes we will be partying and dancing to Midnight in Moscow (Kenny Ball). Hic hic. Is it too late for you to play it
Curse it, Waterloo Sunset, Kenny Ball was on my playlist, but he must come on stage after I'd retired (at 2 a.m. AEST). It was well past sunset here and I'd met my Waterloo, so to speak. [joke]
I needed to hear Kenny's very bouncy "I Love You Samantha", hoping there would have been at least one Samantha amongst my guests, but none; unless she arrived later!
Oh well, You can't have everything, as they say, after such a marvellous party. Thanks again!
Although Oopsadaisy, as Quality Control Manager (wines) seemed to be doing OK when I had to retire!
I've not heard any reports of anti-social behaviour after I'd left; you know, hair-pulling, kick-boxing, fisticuffs; the bouncers appeared to have had an easy time.
It wasn't the World Cup after all!
Hope you've recovered well enough to face another Monday!
Ooroo
I’m already looking forward to your 92 Rufus you certainly know how to party. ????☕️
Can you get one of your boys to set you up with an Amazon Echo machine, it is just brill? You just say to it ‘Alexa play Samantha by Kenny Ball’ and a second later you will be dancing around like a 16 year old. I really miss it when I am on hols. My young grandsons have one and take great pleasure in asking Alexa to play rude made up names so they can have the pleasure of hearing Alexa reply ‘Sorry I don’t have ‘We we, poo, willy in my music library’ They fall about laughing well they are 5 and 7.
Now where are those paracetamol?
He was rather good he asked if if I would like a kiss for every year of his life. I declined his kind offer
NanKate; I assume you mean he was good at his zither, or was it his singing that cooled your ardour.?
Either way. I wasn't that "bloke; can't play or sing, but I'm surprised you knocked back kisses ( 91 if I'd been there), but you obviously prefer them to be younger.
Or would a beard alter your choice? Perhaps they tickle! I wouldn't know of course and I'm always clean shaven anyway but I'd that give that bench a wide berth in future!
Thanks again for the party. Awesome!

Very happy birthday from us all at HQ, Rufus. We'll have the paracetamol at the ready for the morning after. grin
Thank you for your concern, but it's now 6.00pm (AEST)
so the recovery process is almost complete!
The "virtual" concept is marvellous, hilarious, funny. My family and friends were in fits when I explained what it's all about.
Given that contact through Gransnet is, by it's nature, "virtual" (12,000 miles between us!), it still promotes all the virtues of personal contact and activation of the brain cells, or what's left of them after 91 years of use.
and I'm learning to be on my toes when "jousting" with such a talented group of Grannies!
So clever!
There's nothing similar down here, so far as I can tell.
Questions; How long is this thread maintained and is there a clever way (i.e. easy) to copy/paste the whole thread to other devices?
Or would there be a copyright problem?
I'd like to leave a copy in our family album so that when DGS/Ds ask their parents "what did the OG do?" , instead of replying "Dunno!" they can say "Read this"
Ah well! 7.00pm, teatime and no party leftovers;
only one bottle of red.
Might as well enjoy and re-stock tomorrow.
Cheers
I’m already looking forward to your 92 Rufus
So am I NanKate! Could we make that 91¼ ?
Or would you need more time to recover?
I've not come across that Amazon thing, but I'll look up Dr google straight after I've " cooked tea."
Do you get a ready made playlist or can you input your own?
Ooroo
I seem to be gettinga Lot of blame from you * rufus* I’ll have you know that I was a very Hands On QC....
But maybe the less said about that the better?
could you all just be a bit quieter please ....... hung over
Seems I've come very late to this party - sorry I missed the boat and had to celebrate with catch up drinks in the dockside wine bar. Many (belated) Happy Returns Rufus2 - I will definitely not miss your 92nd

Am I alone in having never heard of Rufus2. Is he someone off The Archers or Love Island?
Love Island watermeadow
No, in fact, Rufus2 is a poster on GN!
Love Island?
Watermeadow; We haven't been introduced so I'd best be careful what I say, or how I say it.
I'm an elderly ( If 91 can be considered "elderly"; it's sometimes "senile") widower OAP OBE, born near Belle Vue Zoo, M/c {that might explain a few things!)
Now in Melbourne for the 2nd. half of my life.
I think that's all you need to know, unless you're working on a proposal!?
Now what's this Love Island that's caused Jalima so much amusement, or is that something best left unsaid?
Back to you!
Ooroo
Morning oh I mean afternoon all. Thank you NanKate for organising such a wonderful party! The last thing I remember was doing that Russian squat dance with Jalima, Oopsa, NFK, Jane, Panache and NanKate. Don’t remember anything after that - I knew I shouldn’t have that Moscovskaya ?
I’m already looking forward to your 92 Rufus you certainly know how to party. ????☕️
NanKate; you're very kind and consider yourself on the payroll as DJ, if you want that job again,
I promise to grow a beard by then, if that's what you prefer; don't forget, that will mean 92 kisses, unless you fall for that Aussie bloke on the park bench, you spurned on Sunday.
Btw; you didn't notice me on bended knee on Sunday, proposing to any Granny.? It's still all a blur! Probably not. I can't bend it anyway, but I'd hate to receive a breach -of- promise writ down the track; these gold-diggers can be tough!
Well, it's approaching the witching hour again, so it looks like being an early night for a change.
Catch up tomorrow. Still got heaps of "Thank_You" cards to post.
Ooro
Rufus you can say to Alexa lots of things eg
Play songs by Frank Sinatra it then plays a variety of songs.
Play Fly me to the moon by Frank Sinatra and you just get one song.
Tell me today’s weather.
Put on a timer for half an hour
Alexa by Amazon is brilliant. I listen to the radio with it.
Now to all those kisses. I have a DH of 46 years so I keep all my kisses for him, lucky devil ?. I’m not into beards too scratchy.
Thank you Waterloo and many others for making Rufus’ 91st spectacular. ????????????????
