Today I met some angels

That was a very kind post Greenfinch and of course I appreciate your words,my only little niggle is the fact I am not able to join you all as indeed it sounded very worthwhile.......when eventually you all touched base!!

Now if anyone is heading to the west coast of Wales........right at the foot...........(.where we are surrounded by no less than 64 beaches in our one county!!!!)......where I can also guarantee you the Welsh forever wear their welcome hat,I would be delighted to be the Hostess............although I do not guarantee being the one with the mostest!!!!
Whilst yes,I shall enjoy my day now ......thanks to you for uplifting my spirits .

We met two lovely teenage Japanese Angels when we caught the wrong bus trying to get the Peace Park in Hiroshima. They realised we were lost and took us all the way there on the right bus, paying our fares too.

If only.......64 beaches ! Sounds idyllic.

Gosh kittlylester that was kind of them. Didn't you have any language problems ?

They spoke some English and we could say about 10 words of japanese! We had a map though!

Hi greenfinch - no, I don't see Alchemillamollis - I'm one of those people who always seem to have something on - especially since I have embraced retirement - and I can't keep up with all my "Ooh, that would be nice" social desires or inclinations - including missing this meet-up. Pity because it's always lovely to meet Gransnetters.

People come and go on GN, too. I haven't seen quite a few of those who came to our previous meetups on here ...

Hi Grannyknot we thought about some of those who used to come to our meet ups in Dorking who no longer post on GN. Perhaps they have changed their user names or perhaps we have just missed their posts .Where are Penstemmon, mini mouse and bells and whistles to name just a few ?

My daughter has her own business as Events Organiser. She has just had a mammoth task involving 1000’s of people. She thought she had organised enough loose change from the bank to put in the 12 tills on the bar. However by Sunday they were running very low and of course the banks are all closed. As she had had several little frustrating glitches, she looked up at the sky and said “ will someone please give me a break down here” .... within half an hour, 2 ladies walked in the marquee, who had been collecting for Charity in the city. They asked for the person in charge and said to my daughter “ would you be able to swap all this loose change for us, there’s about 3 thousand pounds worth !!”. She is an atheist, but someone was looking out for her that day !!

How lovely! It has reminded me of some years ago walking through Bath, on my own, and trying to find the car park - which I knew closed quite soon. No one to ask exceept a fairly noisy group of young people on a night out - so I asked them if they knew the way to this particular car park. They came with me most of the way - and when their route differed from mine, one of them came with me right to the car park. Angels are among us!

I bought something on eBay recently, and set out on the 10 mile round trip to pick it up. Arriving at the correct, and very long, road, I realised that I had stupidly forgotten the house number, had left my phone at home - so couldn’t look it up, and knew only the seller’s Christian name. It was a very hot afternoon. I asked a few passers-by, but no-one could help, then started knocking on doors. You have no idea how silly I felt, explaining the situation to various strangers.
Eventually, a young lady invited me in, supplied me with a chair and a cool drink, and ventured forth to track down my seller. She returned, triumphantly, after 10 minutes, and steered me to the correct address. I was so grateful to her, as I had become very ‘hot and bothered’ before she stepped in to help.

Staines is my old stomping ground! I went to school there and still have great friends there. I'm very happy to hear there are some lovely helpful young people around ?

Can someone let me know where the Devon GNs meet please?

Not about GN meeting up but I was meeting my gym friends for lunch. I arrived at the resaurant and was shown to a table and my drink order taken. After 10 minutes a friend phoned to see if I'd forgotten we were lunching just as I noticed the menu showing it was Pizza Express and we were meeting at Prezzo. I had to pay for and leave my drink and make an embarrassing exit. An easy mistake, you may say, but I had actually booked it.

Pheonix I too have made the move from Sunbury on Thames to Devon via Somerset, I used to work in Staines, lovely Town & lots of kind, friendly people.

I belong to a couple of Meet Up groups & often find myself meeting new people in new places, it's difficult to explain to other people how you're meeting up with some-one you've never met before & don't really know what they look like.

Thanks to all who shared their experiences. It is good to know there are so many people around willing to go that extra mile.

Many years ago I was travelling back late by train from London. As I neared my home station I began to worry as my car was parked right at the end of the station car park near a graveyard.I dreaded the walk to my car as there were no lights in those days. Three of us got out of the train: a young couple and myself. They followed me all the way to my car as theirs was parked nearby. I was so relieved. Had it been a man by himself ,I would have been much more anxious. In this case the couple never knew what a comfort they were to me.With hindsight I wish I had said something to them.
