It’s not funny is it Charleygirl especially in a city where the buildings and pavements “hold” the heat.
Yesterday’s downpour was dramatic but I suspect any good it did is long gone. It is just more humid than ever.
Reading about everybody’s aches and pains fills me with admiration for all your stoicism.
I am keeping safe in the kitchen as I seem to have annoyed a certain gentleman (no scrub that, Paw was a gentleman McSporran IS a gentleman and no doubt Grampy and Messrs Corner, Greyduster,Gaga et al are also gentlemen) - a person who sees fit to attack my mental health

Charley we still have no sign of rain here and its already too hot for poor old Sam this morning. I am going to have to get him clipped short again. Turns out the poor soul may have hay fever ( after another £64 visit to the vets !) . His eyes are intermittently quite messy so we shall see if the latest stuff helps. If not we are off to an eye specialist!!

Glad you're able to get out and about again. The whole bending your knee thing I get . Its why ( partly) I drive a big MPV. There is room for me to urn and put both legs out of the car before standing. A huge help.

Sorry to hear you have come under fire maw !! Quite frankly it is too hot for that and I am tired of people being rude online when in person they wouldn't say boo to a goose !! Can I offer you a magnum for your troubles ?

Maw I doubt if Hattie would or could stay awake long enough to assist her mummy.

N&G poor Sam he must be suffering in this awful weather if he has itchy eyes.

My recently operated knee and entire leg are ginormous and I have been told that it will be many months- nice to know these things.

There is no way on earth that I can read and respond to all your news updates. My eyeballs started to swivel at the mid-way stage. I am gladdened by several posts. Saddened to hear that Panache has another setback health-wise. You are one tough cookie, Panache, I hope that your GP can advise you on the best way forward.

Charleyg I have friends who have had both hip and knee surgery. The knee people suffered most and for longer than the hippies. You will overcome. I says so.

Ignore him maw, I've seen the thread (I think) and can only say he isn't someone I would wish to meet in real life. I thought the scratchiness out there had diminished, sadly not.

Had a good walk, sadly our beach rarely provides much to collect but it was a very pleasant place this morning. Then enjoyed lunch in Waitrose, did the shopping and am now off to behead the plants that need beheading, if you see what I mean.

Its very pleasant here, our usual howling gale is more than welcome and its comfortable outside. No rain though, never thought I'd be wishing for some. Overnight will do nicely though, none in the day is fine by me. Off to visit our poorly (again) friend tomorrow, Monday is already full (why do I do that?) so unlikely to appear, take care everyone, keep safe and as cool as you can.

soop I have never forgotten having my other knee replaced 5 years ago. It was very painful then. Unfortunately I have other mega problems on the same leg- my pinned and plated ankle is protesting so loudly it will be a trip to my GP I think. I can do without these buggerations I think.

Galen you would get great satisfaction in doing my two wall to wall wardrobes because there is so much to do. May I be in the queue after corner?

corner It's a benign day in bonnie Kintyre. Very little wind. Not too hot. Rain has done a good job. What's not to like? Nowt!

MacSporran is doing a wee bit of gardening. I have finished my batch of ironing. About to mount the exercise bike. A devil for punishment...

Oops dear I nearly had a heart attack seeing that picture of those unwanted clothes.........a reminder of all my efforts at Christmas when I had a massive clear out hoping to move on..........that darn saga continues.
But indeed Galen that is the only way to do it........being completely ruthless and NO looking back...........forward only.

After the rain back comes the lovely sunshine without its "scorching " element hnce yes more visitors arriving!!

Whilst I know a thing or three about pain I have not had any replacements so I read your stories and grimace,so many awkward corners to deal with in those early stages..........and you seem to have badly swoolen legs Charley .....whence having taken those Furosmide tablets to reduce water my ankles have again re appeared.
As for chronic pain yes but in my case the alternatives are very scary and this next `op is quite a big decision,with no guarantees,hence bearing the pain and grumbling.

Could I ask what beach you visit Corner ???as I realise you are obviously very close and able to visit daily,what a treat it is.It is the best tonic I find..........whether coming home with collectables or not.
Living by the seaside is fab........until it gets somewhat invaded!

The heavy downpour hardly touched our geraniums when I expected a complete mess.However another lovely tall dark green fir tree bites the dust.........and yes it would have to be right on our frontage in full view of all our passers by........and prospective viewers.

Excuse me poking my nose in,but please Maw ............. please may I add my dear man to the list of gentlemen? He really is the best for putting up with me and being such a diligent carer for all these years.

I can quite understand you running perpetually behind with the kitchen such a popular meeting place Soop.......I have had my share of running such Threads and it can be great fun BUT yes,time consuming.

I think a little quiet period with my DH watching "Tour de France" may follow, he loves his cycling,snooker and athletics.......thankfully sports that I do not mind following too.

If I am absent for days it is because my computer has totally packed up. I have organised a fellow to come but not until Wednesday.

My washing machine is also in holiday mode so that fellow is coming Monday pm. It is never ending.

It is not the warmest evening but I really do not mind. I even closed the French doors but at least I am not wrapped up in a blanket.

Sorry to hear of ongoing aches n pains but please may I just say that I "popped out" to local shop without my walking stick for the first time since I broke my femur at the end of May!
Sounds daft but I feel it was a big step (literally and metaphorically!)

mcem that really was a very big step in the right direction. Our bones take forever to heal. Please do not overdo it- little and often is still a good motto.

My GD with whom most people in the kitchen are familiar, left home several months ago and lives with her best friend from the age of 3 and her mother.
She is totally supported and happy where she is.
Today she went for a family lunch for the birthday of her friends GM.
I had met her 18 months ago when we all went to the theatre, she was in a wheelchair and very disabled.
She is in sheltered accommodation and has carers and district nurses in daily. Her D visits daily, takes her meals and takes her out one day a week.
I found out today she is 82, one year older than me.
I realise just how lucky I am with my health, fitness and genes passed down to me.
I have my challenges but surely good health is everything.
I am enjoying my respite but missing H now for the first time since he went, but do know the frustrations will arise as soon as he is home.
Never happy are we?

thanks mcem my problems are my pinned and plated left ankle and lymphoedema caused by that. It was my left knee which was replaced this time. The lymphoedema is incurable which is a pain. Luckily I am not 21 because it can occur at any age.

Provided that the weather is not in the 30's tomorrow I will go out for a short walk. When I had my right knee replaced 5 years ago I was housebound for ages because of snow and ice. There is no pleasing me but I do prefer the sunshine- I ma less likely to slip. I thank God every day I only have two knees because I do not intend to repeat this performance again.

I am still usng crutches but I can move which is something.

Well done mcem. They must have done a good job on you and you've done all the physio stuff as you were told - presumably. Are you allowed to drive yet?
