Coming back to this thread I havebecome even more interested in things which have been denied to women. For example working down mines. The banning of women from playing football is another interesting event. In WW1 women's teams attracted huge crowds, but women were banned by the FA in the 1930s.
And until the 1960s women were considered unfit to run a marathon. It wasn't until 1967 that Katherine Switzer did it in the Boston Marathon
