JaneD3 I feel your pain. I'm so sorry for you. The workmen who left the debris in the road are responsible for this unwanted buggeration. If I were you, I'd give them a good talking to. It was unforgiveable that they left nails in the road. Tell them so.

JaneD3 Mon 21-May-18 15:37:55

Happier thoughts! Butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth!

Panache Mon 21-May-18 15:42:31

I think that news calls for an.............1,2,3....altogether we say.........aw shucks Jane...........anything us lot can say or do to help?

Funny thing in life is that these troubles of ours.......big or small never come alone, usually they are in threes.

I feel your pain if that is any consolation.Dare I say it............how about some of Gagagran`s drizzle cake?..........just a teeny slice though?
I will turn a blind eye!

Soop may I give you a virtual hug, although I am ^ very^ new you have greeted me with kindness, and indeed even at this early stage of settling in, I would be lost without this friendly kitchen to at least enjoy a lurk!

Whilst Maw am I glad to see you join us, as I was really wondering if it would be in order to send you a little note.I recall virtually the last time I followed you in posting... you were having quite a miserable time of things health ways..........and I know the feeling too well...... whilst of course, you have every reason for the odd Off day or whatsoever.....but hearing you back in top form has truly set my mind at rest.

I shall now retreat to my corner lurking seat quite happily!

soop Mon 21-May-18 15:45:53

JaneD3 I love the photo.

Panache Lurk ye not. We want you here with the rest of the gang.

kittylester Mon 21-May-18 17:03:00

Well I need some tlc so don't you dare shut up shop soop. And gaga's cake wouldn't go amiss. grin

I've been on my feet all day - well most of it - manning a stand for Dementia Action Week in the local cathedral - scene of a recent royal reburial - which was fairly busy. Manning a stand relating to Alzheimer's is very weird as people seem to think they might catch it if they speak to you! We were however treated to the University Chamber Choir's singing which was beautiful.

That is a fabulous smile from dgs Maw. DS1 has been there a few times and feels much less disabled when he is flying.

jane that's a real bummer.

Right, off to plant some geraniums!

And no shutting up shop, soop!

soop Mon 21-May-18 17:16:43

kitty Message received and understood.
I shall be visiting the care home in the morning. There must be several types of dementia. Some are very much worse than others. The downstairs residents are simply needing care, whereas the upstairs residents are living in a world of their own. A couple are totally bereft of memory. I was reading about an experiment conducted with several very depressed residents in a care home. Visits by young children (with their boundless energy) were arranged. A few were full of misgivings and said that the children couldn't possibly help to cheer. Fact is, the opposite was true. The elderly folk enjoyed the chatter and antics of the children and asked that the visits could continue.

Back to doing important stuff. hmm Housework! What a bore. Someone has to show willing. MacSporran has done the lion's share today. wink

I'm logging off until tomorrow. Thank you for your company. You cheer me up no end. smile moon

Soop, don`t you DARE shut the kitchen down, do you hear? It`s a haven of peace in a crotchety wilderness. You may not have met David, but he`s getting to know you now, thank you xx
Panache, the rat didn`t invade my kitchen, thank goodness, it was outside, but quite close to my back door. Although obviously I don`t want them in the house, rats don`t frighten me, they`re just big mice, and I love mice, have rescued a fair few from Mia, earning her disgust.
That`s a great pic MawB, someone on another forum I go on did that, but he managed to post a video of himself floating around, it looks great.
I washed one of my new duvet sets for the first time today, it`s silver with a flocked design in black. When I took it out of the machine, my goodness, well, that wasn`t really what I said, there were bits of black stuff everywhere. Luckily the bedding still looks OK, but if that happens every time I wash it I`ll soon have a plain silver duvet set!
N&G, sorry you`re being deprived of sunshine, we had a good bit of rain when we went there, but with lots of sun in between showers. It was persisting down when we arrived, and as we walked into the airport a lady called out "Welcome to the sunshine state", we couldn`t see anything for sheets of rain, lol!
I enclose a pic of my bedding looking how I hope it`s going to keep on looking.

callgirl1 Mon 21-May-18 17:55:06

Nearly forgot. Gagagran, Mia would drive me nuts if I tried to keep her indoors, plus my carpets and furniture would suffer terribly. She`s good normally, unless she`s desperate to get outside.

Hello the new kitchen. Spending a few days in the north west. Yesterday DD1 ran the Manchester half marathon raising more money for Macmillan in memory of her Dad. Today drove past Stockport so was thinking much of Ann60. Hope she is ok. Then afternoon tea and real cake at DGS school. Sports day tomorrow. Will be looking for a comfy kitchen chair tomorrow evening.
Hope all with struggles has a chance for some peace today.

Doodle Mon 21-May-18 21:30:29

Shut the kitchen soop ????????. You can't do that (I'm in need of a wee dram to recover from the shock). We need you and the kitchen. So many pop in every day and many others quite frequently. Newcomers are made welcome and others have a shoulder to cry on . You most certainly can't shut the kitchen ....and more to the point, where would I go for cake ! grin

Doodle Mon 21-May-18 21:32:39

Janed sorry about your car problems but one look at that puppy's sweet little face should take all your troubles away. He is gorgeous and so cute. I bet he gives slobbery kisses too ?

Bellanonna Mon 21-May-18 22:16:46

Although I don’t often post I enjoy coming into the kitchen, and love the new one. soop whatever made you have those doubts? Long may The Kitchen live ??

grannyqueenie Mon 21-May-18 23:44:11

On holiday with limited internet....but just nipping in to say soop NO WAY, don’t even think of closing the kitchen ??...too many of us enjoy popping in/chatting/hunkering down/ lurking as the mood takes us or time allows. Will pop back when I can with some chat and a holiday photo or three, in the meantime keep up the good work soop and fellow kitcheners ? xx

I was admitted to hospital on the 11th May and discharged at 4pm yesterday- 50 years older having had a left knee replacement.. I will not be on GN for a while because I am in too much much pain and cannot concentrate on anything. I am still on this planet though-just.

Tara is still in the cattery until Friday. I rang up asking how she was and the fellow was delighted to tell me that she was eating her wet and dry food well. I went ballistic because the vet recommended the dry only. I rang his wife the following day and she said that he got Tara and another cat muddled, as one does in a cattery. She will not be returning there anytime soon.

Bellasnana Tue 22-May-18 06:29:01

Sorry to hear you are suffering, Charleygirl. I wish you a speedy return to full health. flowers

MawBroon Tue 22-May-18 06:30:55

Gentle hugs Charleygirl brave person!

Gagagran Tue 22-May-18 06:36:28

You were missed Charleygirl and I hope the pain and discomfort eases day by day. Not a pleasant time I know but we just have to do what Churchill said and KBO! flowers

tanith Tue 22-May-18 06:39:39

Hi the kitchen just butting in to say so glad to see your post Charleygirl I wish you a speedy recovery from here onwards .

kittylester Tue 22-May-18 06:58:21

Welcome back Charley, I hope you are feeling better. Did the op go well? Actually, I'm secretly pleased that at least you might sit still for a while. I'm with you about that cattery! Take care.

annsixty Tue 22-May-18 07:35:03

So sorry to hear you are still in lots of pain Charley but pleased for you it is all over and you are back home.
Did you have a lot of pain with your first?
I am put off seeking a second as I had such a good experience with my first and you are not the first to say the second is worse.
My situation here is pretty awful so I do not intend to enlarge on that.
I am just about coping on a good day ?this is helping.

MawBroon Tue 22-May-18 07:39:01

Been wondering about you and OH Annsixty, don’t be a stranger, we are here to listen if you need to vent flowers

JaneD3 Tue 22-May-18 08:00:17

Best wishes to you both Ann and Charley. Hope your leg is going down too Maw. Today is the day for the Cistine Chapel ceiling!

Bellanonna Tue 22-May-18 08:13:38

Charley I seem to have missed that you were having your knee done. Sorry it’s so painful but hope it gets a little better day by day. Ann do come in and tell us how things are. Have you got some day care sorted for your H? Nobody minds at all if you have a rant. We’re here to listen.

Panache Tue 22-May-18 08:22:31

You heard it here first folks.

Jane IS going to paint that Cistine Chapel Ceiling this day!!!

A good luck from me,and I hope the buggeration has been attended to.

Sorry for having misunderstood about said rat Callgirl..........but it would still totally freak me out!!!

I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting you Charley, nevertheless I don`t like hearing of anyone in pain and I sincerely send you my best wishes.
Pain is no one`s friend.
Greyduster I hear has a sore throat............so sending you some healing vibes..........Maw hope your leg is not too painful...........whilst I rather think between you all Soop will have now got The Message very clearly.
