Royal wedding obsession!

Even the guests inside the chapel, even the Queen and Meghan and Harry don’t get lunch until 2 pm, after the wedding, so I don’t know why people are fussing about lack of catering. It’s a morning wedding. In any case, some refreshments and snacks will be available to the guests in the grounds, we have been told. But don’t let the facts get in the way of a good moan.

I’m just wondering if there will be any portaloos.

Don't worry, Grandma70. I've just seen on breakfast news that the long walk has dozens of portaloos.

I don't know about the rest of the route though.

It's a fairly harmless obsession. Live and let live.

Don't give a stuff about the Windsors' wedding except that it's going to cost staggeringly huge amounts of dosh.

OH and I are planning an escape: hoping a large number of the populace will be glued to their TVs for either the wedding or the Cup Final, we're heading out for the day - somewhere peaceful and rural :-)

When we come home, I hope all the fuss will be done with.

I've been so uninterested, that I've only just cottoned on as to why the people next door to me ( I hardly ever see them) have had some large gazebo/marquee tents in their garden since Monday!
Duh.

Grandma70s the article I read stated that the invitation read no refreshments provided or similar wording. If you have been told different, fair enough. As far as I know what I read fact.

I'm certainly not moaning about it, and am surprised you could interpret my post as a moan. It's just a statement of what I've read. As I won't be there I couldn't care less.

Well I love all of the pomp and pageantry and I'm not ashamed to say it .
I am mortified that I have to go to a nieces party for afternoon tea right at 12 o clock so will probably miss the actual wedding and run up to it but hubby is going to record it so I can catch up when I get in or later .I'm sure it will all be repeated later but want to see it as it happened . I tried to get the date changed for the afternoon tea but it could not be done .I'm just hoping the teahouse does not have it on or I shall just sit in front of the tv ...
I love weddings in general but royal weddings and all the ceremony and posh frocks and hats etc really floats my boat.
I can't wait !!

I am not interested in Royalty but I really think they look a lovely couple and hope they are very very very happy I hope people just leave them alone and they can whisk off into the sunset and do some good charity work and have some babies and just get on with getting on
I m not excited by big weddings or fancy parties of any kind, not big on funerals or christenings either I m a simple soul who doesn’t sit comfortably with razzmatazz (if I had my life again I d definitely be the one on the beach somewhere quiet with just close relatives) so I won’t be bothering to watch but hopefully see some short catch ups on the news that will be enough for me
Good luck to them and all the folks camping out to catch a glimpse and I have no bother with whether they get fed or not, they could feed half a third world country on the proceeds of a big wedding and I d much rather they did that

ninathenana I was only going by what I’d read about the refreshments as well. I don’t think it matters much either way. It’s easy enough to take a picnic.

I wasn't interpreting your post in particular as a moan - sorry if it seemed that way. It’s just that people in general often have their own take on something, and bend the facts to fit it.

The royal family should be looked on as an asset much the same as M&S Sainsbury or Tesco. They generate a lot of cash for this country and for that I'm grateful.

The rf do not generate a lot of cash for this country illtellhim they generate cash for certain select parts of the country a big difference .

Really peed me off to get a post on B this morning of Harry in army gear with the heading"for those who complain about paying for security ...he paid for yours by risking his life...£32 million is a bargain" ! What about all the other veterans who did come back with physical or mental health issues ? Shouldn't we be looking after THEM ? 32million would go a long way to keeping them safe and sorting out their problems.
Lets remember Harry had BODYGUARDS with him when he was in Afghanistan !

gillybob Yes and mainly big business! Whom we learn many of which often employ dodgy off shore tax avoidance schemes to avoid paying U.K. tax! so really I can’t see there is any financial advantage to us as tax payers in funding them

DD went into Waitrose in Cornwall today to be told that they didn’t have any Royal Wedding stuff in at all, no flags, bunting, red white and blue hats etc.
Had they sold out? Nope, she was told that they didn’t get any in.

Odd, when you consider the number of petitions that were raised against the building, when PC gave them permission to build on beautiful open countryside in ‘his’ Duchy.

I was just in a busy local shop. It's a friendly place. The lady asked if I'd be watching the wedding tomorrow and when I said no, all the ladies behind the counter burst out laughing. Apparently, not one of the customers they'd asked said they'd be watching it. Media hype? Damp squib?

Yes i do get fed up with endlrss discussions and crowd interviewing. But I'll enjoy procession, pageantry and the actual service and seeing what they all wear!
My DD couldn't care less like many younger people but she tolerates my interest!

Same here pollyperkins I will enjoy all the pageantry and skip the banalities.

I don’t know what cash the rf generate apart from tea towel and tacky souvenir makers probably in China.

I haven’t got excited or watched any of the royal weddings I find it hard to understand how people can be camping out and sitting or standing for hours to just say they ve been there
I wonder how many of the ladies in the shop won’t be watching because they re not interested in the Royal family or because it’s Harry and hands up in horror marrying a ‘furiner’

I must be getting brainwashed. I find myself actually watching some of this....programme about royals' body language in couples was interesting!

Nothing else on - I must get involved in something else.
