Royal Mail threatens to stop deliveries over dog attacks
As an English expatriate having lived in Melbourne for 47 years, I was thrilled to hear we have a new Prince, as yet un-named.
Sixth in line, eh! The queue's getting longer by the day and will (soon?) be even longer when Harry and Merkel start doing their stuff.
Poor Harry; bumped out of 6th. spot.
Just wonder how long the new one will have to wait before ascending the throne?
Realising I'm not immortal (after all), I'll have to miss that one.
As a loyal subject, I bow my knee and wish them all well.
So long as they promise to displace TV coverage of the forthcoming Aussie Rules football season. Awful!.
Incidentally, were any Gransnetters present in the welcoming crowd outside the hospital when the new Prince emerged?
I'd love to read postings about their experiences; how they felt, etc.
The media down here are going to "go bananas" for months , if not years. Talk about TV coverage, waiting breathlessly for his first smile, first burp, first this and that!
Waiting for the next bulletin.!
Good Health
That's just what my DD said merlotgran
I must try to send it to her!
although DD did not use those exact words
gillybob, what would you like to see Kate doing to make people like yourself like her? Give birth in an overcrowded maternity hospital, we already have. Giving the fact that the tabloids are waiting for her whether she likes it or not (probably not), should she appear or not? Should she slink out of the back door and have the tabloids make all sorts of assumptions about why she did that? Is the baby allright? springs to mind. Some of us have had to worry more or less about how we were to take care of our babies, some have been single mothers, some have had support. It has not been easy for anyone. Why not just leave Kate alone? I am not sure that all this jealousy about being waited on hand and foot by armies of servants and nannies is correct. Anyone who has had a loyal partner by their side knows that that´s all it takes.

I think you left out the words, 'lucky enough to have,' polyester

As Del Boy said so memorably:
"It's a little baby!"
He was also fond of saying "Lovely Jubbly"!
I think that's more appropriate for this occasion.
BTW; Were you actually there to call out your Good Wishes?
Cheers
I think they are fortunate enough to have one nanny and one housekeeper - not armies
I had my mum and dad (my mum was a trained nanny).
Gilly, explain how getting rid of the royals and replacing with a president plus family will make the mother you speak of feel less stressed , less concerned with what others wear and how she would benefit financially.
So this baby was born in a private hospital, that saved one bed and one crib in the NHS.
I struggled bringing up our daughters on my own, what the royals wore didn't bother me, didn't interest me , hell bells when my girls wanted a flute and a Cello I took a job at weekends with a fly fishing company steaming fleas off animal skins . Just calm down about the wealth of the Windsors for your own sake , it doesn't help you , I refused to dwell on what others had , I was thankful I had two beautiful daughters I loved and who loved me , money could not buy this.
My younger daughter is quite wealthy, has a large country house, private health care, she cannot have a baby and after twenty years of IVF has had to accept she will never have a child.
I would prefer not to have to see her at all if I am being perfectly honest polyester. (you did ask).
I am not in the slightest bit jealous of her being waited on hand and foot, her huge medical team, or her personal stylist and the rest, but I think she is doing a massive disservice to all young mothers by kidding us that her walking out of hospital looking like a million dollars in her designer frock, styled hair, perfect makeup and killer heels is in anyway "normal" .
I'm back home now Rufus, having been camped outside the Lindo Wing since news of the pregnancy first broke.

Terribly sad anniebach and I understand, I really do. My own DD (not in the slightest bit wealthy mind you) was told she would never have children. We consider her pregnancy nothing short of a miracle.

You are clearly not a true royalist then Jalima or you would have been there since the moment they started trying for another baby (or indeed did they stop?) Best get back there right now and wait for number 4.
Life is unequal and often unfair but perhaps it's best not to dwell too much on that at the moment - I hope the coming baby will give you all much joy, gillybob.
At least your DD will not have the world's press and all the social media commenting on her every move.
I think the Royals are not in the same league at all as people like the Ecclestones and their ostentatious life-styles.
X post
Yes, I have my spot marked out just in case gillybob
at least the Ecclestones have worked for their lifestyle !!
gillybob, I hope everything continues smoothly for your daughter and her expected baby. It may reassure you, given your comments about NHS wards, to hear that my daughter walked out of the NHS maternity ward 24 hours after a planned C Section a couple of weeks ago. She was carrying her baby and looked wonderful. She wasn't wearing heels but she had put a bit of foundation on and brushed her hair. She readily says that if the world's press had been camped out waiting for her, she'd have made more of an effort. She expressed great relief that she isn't married to Prince William so she could avoid being criticised if she looked wonderful and criticised some more if she'd wandered out in her pj's with sleep in her hair and eyes.\
The ward wasn't overcrowded. The surgery was done by the same medical team who delivered her first baby a couple of years ago. She was well supported throughout her "high risk" pregnancy, during the Section and on the ward. Since she came home, there has had good support from the midwives, health visitor and a visit from the breast feeding champion, who smiled and said she wouldn't need to call again.
What a lot of bitterness, bitching, chips on shoulders has emerged from a joyous occasion - the birth of a baby. It has brought out the worst in some gransnetters. The Cambridges seem a very happy couple, I wish the family well. I don't begrudge them any of their 'privileges', living in the public eye and being scrutinised all the time must be awful. Not easy for the children.
No, they haven't (the Ecclestones) Their dad has and they are living the high life off his hard work.
Duchess of Cambridge had a short labour. I had such a labour with my second child and it was all so quick I felt quite capable of getting off the delivery table and walking home with her in full make up and best dress had it been practical. Now my first child........ 12 hours after his birth, I fainted when I tried to sit up in bed.
I don ´t understand why "the actress" has to "earn our respect". What a silly phrase. I understand that the Queen´s grandson has chosen her as his wife. I applaud the fact that she is mixed race, which will bring the Royal Family up to date with other families in the UK. Otherwise I don´t care. Good luck to them, they make a lovely couple, As anyone will know, couples who seemed to be made for each other have split up and others (my husband and myself included), who bickered from the start are still together. Only time will tell.
at least the Ecclestones have worked for their lifestyle !!
Ha ha ha
Evidence please
Can I have my tuppenceworth?
Meghan Markel may just be trying very hard to be accepted, which some people think comes across as false. It's a huge role to fill, being married to the Prince and she's 'lucky' to have had experience of paparazzi chasing her (remember poor Diana, trying to run away from the paps in tears?) and being in the public eye in her career.
How would the press have reported Kate leaving hospital with the baby if she hadn't had a tidy up? They'd have torn her to shreds for looking rough. I think she should be applauded to even have the energy or willingness to appear so soon after the birth.
Regarding the RF wealth, there can be no greater shame than that of the Vatican and Catholic churches expecting their followers to give a great percentage of their income to fill the coffers of what has become a huge business.
The Royal Family also bring in far more income than they spend in tourism.
Thank you for listening.
The Catholic Churches do not receive money from our taxes do they ?
Not directly Annie, but the tax breaks are worth a lot, especially to private Catholic schools. (I am the product of one hence my comment!)
But they are choices
Grandmama - how I agree. Sadly bitchiness appears in so many threads these days that I really wonder whether to bother to continue as a gransnetter sometimes.
Our family are fortunate in not being not on our 'uppers' but neither are we rolling in wealth. I wouldn't swop my life for theirs for anything.
They can do no right can they?
