What's your vice?

Was talking to DH earlier about vices - that one thing we really know we shouldn't do/eat/drink but still do anyway - and it got me thinking about what mine is.

I eat healthy, have never smoked, try to have gentle daily exercise but I can't resist diet coke. I must drink about two cans a day! Oh, and a nice glass of chilled white wine at the weekends.

What are your vices?

This is my first time starting a discussion so I do hope I've posted this in the right place! smile

Plain chocolate
Cashew nuts
Chilled rose wine or pro secco
Diet Fanta very cold

I would have said wine and strong liquor, but now that people are describing chocolate, cheese, ice cream, peanut butter, fish and chips, crisps, popcorn, cereal, bread, butter, talking, reading and nuts (talking, reading and nuts?! confused) as vices, I realise I'm a bigger sinner than I thought.

I don't drink Coke though, unless there's a rum or a whisky in it.

Extra mature cheddar cheese, marmite crisps and anything flavoured with marmite and paprika crisps. Lardy cake!

Brazil nuts

Food and alcohol.
That's all, I think.

I used to eat nutella straight from the jar but I find it too sweet now. I can't stop at one glass of wine. I bite my nails. Not sure if these are vices really or just bad habits . What is it with diet coke? My DiL is addicted to it. I think it tastes horribly artificial.

Don't drink. Not interested in crisps, sweets or biscuits much. But I do love a cup of tea and a cigarette after my evening meal. I am a pariah in some circles blush

I'm a cake-oholic, only recently come out of the closet. Am finding cutting down on sweet things esp in the evenings really hard going. Am helped by thinking of two folks I know, one giving up smoking the other alcohol, so I sympathise with their efforts.

Buying fabric - I simply cannot walk past a fabric shop and I have more fabric than I know what to do with blush. That is aside from all the leftover scraps that I tell myself I will use up in patchwork, dolls clothes and so on. My name is Bathsheba and I’m a fabricaholic.

Chocolate, cake and buying necklaces.

My glass of wine at "wine o'clock" every evening. Oooh Lardy cake - haven't had that for years and I intend to rectify that very shortly!!

Proper Turkish Delight, a lot easier now I'm back in the UK, but since my cancer operation I can't resist sweet chilli crisps, never ate crisps before!

Tisliz - it’s grapes, so yes of course!

Chocolate! None of that life prolonging, posh 70% pure cocoa solids fare, it has to be the bad ass, unhealthy bog standard Cadburys. I don't have it the house, it's a very occasional vice. I had my grandchildren's Easter eggs lying around for a little while until we saw them after Easter and I congratulate my self control because they remained in tact, which was not always the case with my own children's eggs, I'd break little bits off when they weren't looking. Bad mother! Other than that red wine, French and Italian cheeses with lovely crusty bread, with bits of olives and sun dried tomatoes, a nod to healthy eating grin

Chilled dry white, rose or champagne at 5.50pm. Cheese, books - hard copy of kindle-, colourful fabrics, ribons, paints etc.

Managed to hive off my long term addiction to a very sugar filled fizzy drink and have somehow ended up indulging in some raspberry ice creams on a stick. Totally weird because I've never really cared for ice cream. I'm having a serious word with myself but so far not a lot of success!

Smelly cheeses. I just love the taste and could eat a whole block without thinking about it.

anniesgrannie Fri 20-Apr-18 10:29:52

Condensed milk and white chocolate

squirrel5 Fri 20-Apr-18 11:01:38

All the naughty stuff that diet books say are taboo

KatyK Fri 20-Apr-18 11:03:43

Lovely cold white wine

Mine seem to be:-
Chocolate
Cheese (thinly sliced on wholewheat crackers)
Thunder & lightening ice cream
Manuka honey
A good chippy lunch or tea
and the occasional gin, paired with the correct tonic (not all gins go well with tonic containing quinine)

Eccles cakes from my local baker. He only makes them to order and they're HUGE. I only like currants in them and sugar sprinkled on top.
Cost £1.25 each and I ate 4 in one weekend not so long ago.
Other than that, Waitrose Madagascan vanilla ice-cream on sticks covered with Belgian milk chocolate...Yummy and only £1.50 for 3.

I love crisps, prawns and trifle. Lashings of milky tea. Plus fish and chips is the best meal ever.

gillyg Fri 20-Apr-18 11:56:04

Buying Kindle books - they make it too easy and I have so many that I haven't read yet but can't resist buying more.

Ninjanana2 Fri 20-Apr-18 12:39:08

I have no vices, just pleasures. Wine, cheese, painting and reading.
