Do you feel old?

I do not look my age at all (coming up 70) - long dark brown hair with no grey at all, smooth skin (a legacy from my Grandma - she had this when she died at 92!) etc. But I would trade all that for feeling a bit better! A few wrinkles and being fitter would be my choice!!

Despite a catalogue of serious health issues spanning over 30+ years, apart from looking well beyond my years I have had the gift of feeling a Peter Pan youngster up until just a handful of years ago...........a gift my husband of almost the same age has retained.
We shall both be celebrating our 80`th early next year plus our Golden Wedding anniversary at Christmas,however these latter few years of continuous battling with yet a further range of nasty health issues I must admit at last I am feeling my age .............and catching up with my fading "looks"
The annoying thing though is that I am still finding folk thinking my OH is my son...........it is true that he has held onto his looks with only now a touch of grey in his hair,but quite frankly it would be nice were people to put their thinking caps on before opening their mouths sometimes!!
Whilst in the past we have had a good old laugh about it and a lot of leg pulling,I am now a tad sensitive about it all and it does hurt.
Still ever onward,no looking back and one must make the best of whatever gets thrown in your direction I guess.

I will be 72 this year. I don’t feel old, but this last year I have suddenly started to look old. In photos taken a year or two ago I look considerably younger than my age. Looks like all that is over ?!

Hallo Bluegal I was 65 in Februaury and really don't feel it. My outlook hasn't changed, I hope I'm a bit wiser. My body has different ideas about ageing to my head but apart from recovering from an op I think I'm pretty fit. usually I play golf, croquet and netball and go to Zumba - sadly the latter I have to give up now due to the crumbly foot but I shall take up Pilates instead.
Its great that most of us here are remaining young in our heads and hearts and not becoming like our parents seemed to be 'old'.

I realised how old I look and feel when the passport office contacted me and said they would not accept my photograph. I am now without a passport, DH got his back last week with a quick snap I took of him. DH took about 50 photos of me and they don't like any of them.

I don’t feel old until I get out of the chair - or try to. And when I look in the mirror and see my mother looking back. My DGD3 told me last weekend when we were discussing their elderly dog that I was even older than him - even in dog years!

No, don’t feel old yet, am 68 very soon, it’s all about health I think, am still fit and active, although was diagnosed with COPD last month, have now got morning only inhaler, which helps a great deal, thought being breathless up the hills with spaniel was just getting older! It’s payback time for all those cigarettes I enjoyed years ago. Feel old, never, won’t let myself, I’m still alive yay!!

Yes. And I’m 55!

I always say you are only as old as you feel. ie - stroke your hand - bet it feels nice and soft!!
I never remember how old I am (71 1/2 maybe) and sometimes have to work it out from the ages of my children.

A steroid shot in the hip will fix the 70s blues . . . just had one yesterday and I'm fine now.

I'm 69 but I don't feel old. I spent five nights at Easter (remember the weather?) living in a Viking village at York. A wooden sleeping bench in a wattle and daub hut is very primitive!

Same here, 61 next month I’m told I look 51, I feel 41 and act like I’m 31. Lucky I suppose like all you other ladies.

One of my shoulders is considerably older than the rest of me and yes there are days when my funny feet don't work very well but people say I look well - what does that mean? Still very much on call for DGC.

I am 81 and never felt my age until I got a bad bout of the Flu and a chest infection in February, it is now mid April and the after affects - lack of energy and aching ankles when I walk more than a few yards - certainly make me feel it.

Years ago DD had an arthroscopy because of a knee problem and asked to borrow one of Paw’s walking sticks. The easiest way to get it to her by train was to “use” it and other passengers were extremely helpful and considerate, letting me go first, giving me a seat etc. By the time I got to New Street I felt about 99!
On the return journey I was bringing DD3’s backpack home which her sister had borrowed a few months earlier for travelling so I slung it over my shoulder and felt 30 years younger!
Aches and pains apart, it must be largely in the mind

Was 66 last week, everyone says I look 50, as thanks to genes I have good skin and hardly any grey hair. I can still run up the stairs 2 at a time, and can still stand on my head ( much to my GC amusement) .. so I am lucky. Have many friends, 2 going back to Infant school and we are always amused to think we have been friends for 62 years ! It does feel surreal, but we have lost some friends along the way, so we are all grateful that we are still here ! It’s just about making the most of life now, doing all we can while we still can as no one knows what tomorrow will bring.

I do feel old. I have just reached 70 and my damaged back joints are now causing a lot of pain and discomfort, day and night. This cold weather has added to me feeling miserable and I have been feeling rough since I had a nasty bug in early February.

I think getting old is all in the mind. I'm slim, fit and active. I'm 69. Took up golf 18 months ago, and recently pickleball and I'm also teaching myself bridge (proper lessons don't start until September). Enjoying every day of my life

Like Grannybags I only feel old when I look in the mirror. I feel fitter than I did when I was stressed out with teaching and, when we retired teachers get together for a catch-up I think they all look years younger too.

I am 61 and have spent some time recently with ex teacher friends who are approaching or have hit their seventies. I have to say I noticed a certain slowing down and many anecdotes where days are planned round doctors' appointments. Having said that, they are all as sharp as razors still or, as my dad used to say, 'All there with their cough drops'.

I'm 80 years young... and that's how I feel - young!
Sometimes my body feels old, particularly my back and my knees, but apart from that I am very very young inside my head.

Thank goodness that Jaymbe posted, no I am old 74, why do we need to compare, each age has pleasures, no no fretting get on enjoy, seek out a new experience each and every month, never cease to enquire. Love life and the others you have in it even if it is the dog. Cauliflower and apple cake was this month's, try Segway, Skydiving (indoors), walking along the ocean bottom. Fight fight the dying of the light?
