annsixty just sending love and hugs. I know how my mum tried to care for my dad until it made her ill. Please don't let that happen to you. I know how much you love him but you have your limits flowers.

MawBroon Wed 09-May-18 22:55:07

Just a quick remember of lovely Gracie, if I may.

JaneD3 Thu 10-May-18 06:16:10

Maw I wonder if Gracie was related to Merve, the lurcher who is our grandog?! This picture was taken just after she ate a Mac lipstick. High pigment and long lasting ...

kittylester Thu 10-May-18 07:01:38

Ann, thank you for your update. I wondered, and worried about, how things are with you and am pleased that things are happening now and hope that things move quickly.

All the Dementia Support Workers I meet are young enough to be my granddaughter but are really good at their jobs. I thought about you on our last Carer's course as two attendees told us about the dreadful weeks they had experienced and also shed a few tears.

Please let us know what happens.

Morning all,

Sorry Ive been absent, Ive been poorly , so I have to go and do a lot of catching up.

Just wanted to say how sorry I am you are so worn out Ann I hope they can get the respite care sorted quickly x

soop Thu 10-May-18 13:09:47

Dear Ann, I cannot put into words my admiration for your on-going steadfastness as you have coped marvellously with the most difficult of illnesses. An illness that could happen to any one of us. Please may the respite care be arranged without further delay. flowers sunshine smile

soop Thu 10-May-18 13:15:54

Maw Grace was the most graceful of canines. And now you have the adorable Hattie.

N&G Oh Nana, I was wondering why you hadn't been in for your usual chat. What happened? Are you fully recovered? Best wishes and healing vibes coming across the airwaves from a sunny Kintyre.

Charleygirl Thu 10-May-18 14:44:34

Maw Gracie is beautiful as is Hattie and I agree, Merve is definitely related to Grace.

Ann I have no idea where you find your patience. I would have run out of your house many moons ago screaming. I am so glad that the SW saw the main picture and tried to get it sorted and the sooner the better before the pair of you are on your knees. People forget your age and stamina wains with age unfortunately.

N&G I hope that you are now feeling better. The weather here is glorious.

soop Thu 10-May-18 16:51:52

Charleyg Ditto. The sun is shining brightly. We sat outside and could both smell and hear the sea as it shifted the shingle on the shore. smile moon

Couldn't get her photo up

wot Thu 10-May-18 17:01:53

Here she is!

Luckygirl Thu 10-May-18 17:05:37

annie - I do so hope that respite care materialises. I have some idea what caring can do, and however much we want to do everything, we have to recognise that we are all only human, and, as my DD says, "You cannot pour from an empty jug." Take the chance to fill your jug and do not feel guilty. You matter too and you are doing a great job, but you cannot do it if you are worn out.

Just back from ENT appointment - he poked his camera up my nose and gazed lovingly at my vocal chords while I squeaked and growled to order. He says they are not working properly - not meeting or the wrong bits meeting or something - anyway he is referring me to speech therapy. I wonder which bodily system will start packing up next!! Fun getting older isn't it?! smile

6 months ago today we lost Paw. How quickly my life has changed.
Just thinking about him and remembering with much love.

MawBroon Thu 10-May-18 19:22:55

We were at Althorp Literary Festival and Paw was in “book heaven” smile

callgirl1 Thu 10-May-18 19:23:13

My thoughts are with you Maw x

JaneD3 Thu 10-May-18 19:42:51

It seems no time since you told us and yet for you it must be such a long time. flowers

Charleygirl Thu 10-May-18 21:53:48

I agree, it seems like yesterday- I did not realise that 6 months have flashed past. I do like that photo of Paw. I know he was not well but he does look relaxed.

kittylester Fri 11-May-18 07:19:12

Sending hugs, Maw! I'm sure you are still in shock really but you are doing fine. That is a great photo and obviously a happy memory.

harrigran Fri 11-May-18 08:20:46

Sending kind thoughts Maw, a lovely photograph.

Fennel Fri 11-May-18 14:48:55

Lovely photo - no wonder you love him!

soop Fri 11-May-18 15:30:06

Maw Paw was an exceedingly handsome man. This photograph reflects his personality beautifully. flowers

wot What a lovely girl. What is her name? Does she belong to you? I shall need to look back through the posts in order to find out.

soop Fri 11-May-18 15:35:56

It has been a very busy time outside our neighbour's driveway. Police, fire crew and ambulance. A car, driven by a lady, now in hospital, finished up on it's roof. The police believe that the strong side-wind blew the car into the verge and it toppled over. No one trapped inside, thank goodness.

kittylester Fri 11-May-18 16:21:57

Just in for a quick catch up!

Crumbs, soop, that could have been really nasty. Hope your leg is coming along ok.

No more from N&G - hope she's ok.

I hope something is moving for you Ann. You need to get some respite. flowers

Lucky - you are quite right. DH has just gone off to collect his hearing aids. I hope this time he perseveres and maybe we can turn the volume down on the TV! grin

We met friends for lunch yesterday. Dh had shared a house with them (and 2 others) while they were at Dental School so they all around 73/4. We had such a palaver getting everyone in the right seats. We had a round table and we played musical chairs until the men had their 'good' ears in the best position. Dentists have a high incidence of deafness being so close to high pitched whirring of the drill. grin
