Home again, after a few lovely days in Cheshire and with DD and family in Birmingham. just the right length of time to be away I think, not outstaying my welcome but long enough to be able to relax.
What a glorious weekend it has been but I am glad I left straight after lunch today as the roads were quiet, I suspect they will be very different by this evening, especially the southbound motorways
Thank you all for the reminder about Ibuprofen. I wonder if this gastric flare up might have been at least partially self inflicted. I had a " frozen shoulder" starting about 10 days ago and, guess what I took? That's right. Now I know to leave that packet alone
Touch wood, I have been absolutely fine today, but will stay on the waggon for a few more weeks just to see if things stay that way.
Hattie is happy to be asleep on her lawn again, in the shade of the shrubs in one corner and I will now prepare myself something cold, fizzy and non-alcoholic- and make the most of the rest of the sunshine!

9 bags of recycling later, I have disposed of most of my notes and resources from teaching! Rather smug and ready for the decorator tomorrow. ?
Now getting very wound up by the speedway racing at the track which was built very close to our house only a few years ago. We protested and have complained but to no avail. I can hardly hear the TV. Grr ?

Oh jane please come and get rid of the last remnants of my teaching career!
I have less than I had a few years ago but hang on to various worksheets as the DGCs enjoy the 'puzzles'.
Down to 3 large boxes under the spare bed but just can't shift the last of the 'stuff'!!

That walk/climb of yours sounded a bit strenuous greyduster , funny how our children sometimes cut us very little slack as we get older! What a sad and unpleasant experience for your son, it beggars belief the depths that some will sink to.

Like you Jane and mcem I’ve still got work stuff cluttering up the place. I trim a bit here and there but can’t quite bring myself just to chuck the lot of it out. When I start going through it all I find all sorts of “useful” bits and pieces but since I’d forgotten I had them they’re not really that useful after all!

Well we never did get to the woods with the abundance of bluebells, an unexpected road diversion scuppered that plan. But we did detour off to visit a quiet country garden and enjoyed a walk there instead....and there were one or two bluebells too! Then later we discovered another walk we’d not done before, so not the day we’d planned but a good one nonetheless

Another beautiful day here in sunny London but I believe that the weather is going steadily downhill from later today.

Somebody has helped themselves to my solar lights and two brand new garden chairs- cheap and plastic but mine! It musty have been one of the builders because the lock is undisturbed. I do not know when it happened because I have not opened the shed for months.

Good morning all.
Fourth lovely sunny and warm wake up to the day.
Not that my S and I are in any mood to enjoy it, we are struggling every night to get my H to settle. He gets up anything between 3 and 6 times a night and wanders the house, he doesn't know where his bed is now and insists on sleeping in a chair.
However progress is being made, I have visits this afternoon from the MH team and possibly the Stroke team and a meeting tomorrow am with his newly appointed SW , who was very calming and helpful on the phone.
Onwards and Upwards is the new mantra.

JaneD3 Would you have time to assist MacSporran with the almighty task of sorting through his entire working life as an architect? The loft, in which I'm unable to gain access, is stuffed to the rafters with files.

grannyqueenie Excellent photographs. It's piddling with rain in Kintyre. No matter, the new shoots and blooms will benefit after a few days of sunshine. It hasn't been hot hereabouts, but it has been pleasantly warm. And yes...the pesky midges will be waking up in readiness for their annual onslaught on we innocent folk.

The painting is finished. I'm about to do a second of the same two dogs.

Sorry Soop - our loft needs attention too! And the garage ...
The landscapers arrived this morning to lay some slabs and clear ivy etc off a wall. They were here at 7.15 and left at 12.30 but will be back tomorrow. The boss looks as if he may be in his 70s and the lad is well into his 60s. I feel guilty asking the to do the work

grannyq those photos are lovely and almost made me feel cooler! It's still very warm here but the clouds are gathering and some showers? are expected this afternoon.

My trip to Trentham yesterday was, of course, a disaster! What were we thinking?
I went first to my dd's and had a coffee with her and my middle gd, who is revising like mad for her exams. Then we set off on what should have been a ten minute trip to TG. Twenty minutes in the queue to get in and then the most humungous queue to get in the gardens!
In the baking heat, no thanks. So we went back home.
That's why I never, ever, go out on Bank holidays. How could I have forgotten?
It was so nice to see my dd and dgd though.

ann It sounds as though you will be getting some help at last, I do hope so.

soop I love the dogs- both look as though they are ready for action.

I can sit here with a silly grin on my face because my loft is empty. The way things are going my very tidy shed will soon be empty also but that will not be my doing.

I know that knives are not allowed but please would you allow me 10 minutes? That may be insufficient time because I have at least 6 on my list.

I took the advice that you lot gave me regarding the injured shin. Nurse has put a special dressing on it. She expects the weepy bit to dry itself up. I shall be as good as new in next to no time.

I am enjoying the last of the really hot weather here because thunder has been forecast for tonight. It will be cooler at the weekend- did not think that this lovely weather could last.

I have come to the conclusion that men do not think. I am having my staircase sanded and painted Friday and Saturday and the fellow wanted to leave a window open if he and I were not in, even if I had just nipped out for a loaf of bread. Absolutely not- I live in London.

It was supposed to be cooler here today but it is roasting- I am not complaining.

ann, I hope that your meetings with SWs etc this week have borne fruit. Who cares for the carers? It's time for an answer to this important question.

In spite of telling the Mental Health Team we had a GP visit for bloods at 1:30pm they apparently came at 1:45.
We have now rearranged for next Thursday, I have stressed the need for sedatives before then.
My S and I are on our knees, we are exhausted, I cannot expect him to sacrifice the needs of his young family for me.
The SW appointed to us came this morning, she was lovely "in spite of being very young" that is me being ageist.
She saw the situation first hand and has urged me to go for immediate residential respite care of 1/2weeks and I have agreed.
We will still persue day care and see how things pan out.
I am upset but realistic, I cannot go on with things as they are.
You have all been patient with me and caring, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Oh poor you Ann , you need help and now , not next week !!

annsixty I can hear the despair in your voice. Please god you will get the respite you need.

Thank goodness that young social worker saw things as they really are, Ann. You and your son have both been doing your very best for your dh, no one could have done more. I hope respite can get organised ASAP.
