Good to hear your husband got prompt treatment, ann. I hope you got some sleep last night

Thankyou all for the kind messages and thoughts.
I didn't sleep much but maybe I will tonight after more information.
The treatment my H had was Thrombolysis , given promptly it helps break up the clot and reduces long term damage.
We are lucky to have the unit 15 mins away from home.
A team of 2 Drs and 2 nurses were waiting for him having been alerted by the paramedics and he had had a scan and treatment started within a very short time.
If it had happened in the night it would have been a very different story.
I am very grateful for the NHS.

Oh dear Ann - this is truly a testing time for you and I wish you all the very best. It sounds as if your DH had the best possible care and may that continue.

annsixty I’ve only now read of your DH’s stroke. Like everyone else, I’m so sorry and send you best wishes for the strength to cope with yet another challenge.

Baking tomorrow for Mum’s funeral. Over the month the relief that she is not suffering has been replaced by memories of a younger, healthier woman and now I am starting to grieve. She had a massive cerebral aneurysm 3 years before I was born and I came to realise that I never really knew the bright and intelligent person she must have been. We have been sorting our old paperwork and shredding but that has turned up some lovely photos.

Dear ann, have just this minute logged on and read the news of your husband's stroke. Thank goodness he was attended to promptly and is in the best place receiving expert treatment. Please update us when you can.

Did lots of gardening this morning and, as there was rain forecast, stopped at lunchtime. No rain but it has gone quite cold. Off to cook a tagine (my spellcheck doesnt like that word and now it looks all wrong to me!) and then to sit and do some catching up on TV watching.

I'll be back later to catch up. Feeling a little sombre!

The sun could have shone for callgirl1's visit to Kintyre...alas, it didn't put in an appearance. Tomorrow's forecast is so much better, by which time she'll be leaving for home.

I am not in the mood for being light hearted. ann and her husband are on my mind. I shall return tomorrow. (((group hug)))

I know what you mean, but perhaps for different reasons.
The initial feeling that things could not have gone on getting worse is replaced by earlier memories, which being good, can make the loss even harder to take.

soop so sorry to hear that the sun did not shine when callgirl visited yesterday. Here the day was glorious- fairly typical I would say.

Now it is so dull I am sure it is going to rain.

Thank you kitty and Agus, I'm always lurking but the last 6 months have been painful (knee op) and family problems still on going, so i didn't want to bring the kitchen down.
The kitchen is such a lovely, comforting place now but it does need more lemon drizzle cake, so I've left you all a whopping great big one ?
