I don't think you would get enough support, too big a change. If you tried to 20 weeks I think you would get a lot more support. These things are probably better done in smaller steps.

I would imagine much support at all. 10 weeks sounds to me like the point at which only an unwanted pregnancy could be the deciding factor, unlike following a 12 week scan or the 20 week “abnormality” scan cut offs.
I do t see what it would achieve.

I didn't even know I was pregnant with DS until I was 11 wks.

No from me too. I wonder if the OP has any compassion at all for women who have to make the grim choice between aborting a longed-for child, and giving birth to a child with severe disabilities.

I notice too that the OPs username is very similar to at least one other GNer who sometimes posts.
I wish GN would have a system of not approving very similar usernames. It’s not fair on the person who thought of it first, particularly when a controversial thread is started in the new name.

Only a very small number of abortions are carried out over 12 weeks' gestation.

I would be very much against lowering the limit to 10 weeks. Whether it is because the child is likely to be profoundly disabled or very sick, or whether it is because the woman/girl feels, for whatever reason, she cannot continue with the pregnancy, I think it should be a woman's choice.

I was surprised and delighted to discover at 37 that I was 14 weeks pregnant. No question of abortion but it does show me that 10 weeks is far too early a cutoff point.
There's a heck of a difference between 10 and 24 weeks.

No No No. 24 weeks is fine. 10 weeks would mean abortions because of abnormalities probably wouldn't happen. Would you force a woman to give birth to and care for a disabled child? Would you force woman to give birth to a child she doesn't want and can't care for simply because she didn't realise she was pregnant until after 10weeks?

I've now read some of the OP's blogs and my conclusion is that they are simplistic, dogmatic, narrow-minded, poorly written and lacking in credibility.
Some blogs display nothing more than high-handed self indulgence.

Thank goodness we live in a country where government, for the last 50 years, has shown intelligence and compassion for women in this situation.

Let's hope that northern (and Southern) Ireland will soon follow suit.
