Someone on another post mentioned that they had always hoped to move to live near the sea, but this would never happen now. This set me thinking about my own dreams that are now highly unlikely to come true.
When i was a child, my dad used to take me and my brother skating at Bradford ice rink. I never did anyrhing more advanced than going round and round in circles, either backwards or forwards, but loved it, especially the brief speed skating sessions. However, I have always wanted to experience the freedom and (I imagine) exhilaration of wild skating, on a frozen lake or canal. Even as an adult,I longed in vain for a winter cold enough to make this possible. A simple dream, but the opportunity never arose and now I can't imagine it ever will, which saddens me!
What simple dreams have passed the rest of you by?

) Just to be able to get up one day, grab my skates (which I probably couldn't get my ever-spreading feet into these days!), and head for freedom and, if i was lucky, isolation, of that illusive patch of wild ice.
