Hopefully he will be healed of the torment of addiction . Is he any different to a homeless addict who refuses shelter. We who have no battle with addiction expect those who do to think as we think.

Of course he’s different - for one thing he employs a whole range of staff who could make sure he didn’t drive and could have reported him to the DVLA - as for his mother, what was she thinking of? I know people who have drink/drug problems don’t think rationally all the time but he’s obviously able to function well enough for his tv appearances so should have thought through strategies for avoiding driving. The homeless addict who refuses shelter is ‘only’ harming himself and not threatening the lives and well being of innocent drivers and pedestrians.

Annibach, we cannot compare a person refusing shelter to drink/ driving ,a person refusing shelter is not endangering any one else, apologeise if I miss understood your point.

And it is not true all homeless addicts only hurts themselves .

What has money got to do with it? I said a homeless person is endangering themselves, as in they are not driving a car whilst being drunk the two things are not comparable

I am not casting stones Jane10, just saying logically one is dangerous to the actuall person driving & endangering others , the other situation is not endangering others , I don’t believe you can be seriously injured if two people bump into each other on the street, homeless or otherwise.

True you can't be injured by bumping into each other, but what of the addicts who break into houses , this too is against the law. Begging on the street is against the law too.

Seems breaking the law is ok if there is no fear of injury or worse. Or should people with money think logically but not people without money.

Deaths by knife attacks is on the increase and this is blamed by gangs involved in drugs

The two things are not equally comparable, the potential for injury to oneself & others is greatly increased when accompanied by an engine tuning over at 5 miles an hour let alone any faster.

But all are against the law , seems some are guilty whilst others are a bit guilty

The idea that all crimes are equal is ridiculous.

It has sickened me to hear the likes of Lorraine Kelly, Phillip Schofield etc. saying how sorry they feel for their drunk driving friend. They don’t seem to feel quite so sorry for the people who’s car he hit while he was intoxicated and driving on the wrong side of the road . Double standards ?

I would hope I would stick by any friends who were in trouble. You can hate the deed but support the person.

I don't think one can assume PS and LK don't feel sorry for the people in the other car just because they haven't publicly said so. I expect they feel sorry for everyone involved. Why wouldn't they?

I heard on the radio that the backers of their show - Suzuki I think - is stopping the sponsorship but said they will continue to the end of this series - 2 more shows- which Dec will host on his own.

A & D did Suzuki adverts on Tv . The contract was apparently worth £20 million . Suzuki have now withdraw the contract and I can’t say I blame them .

I think it was filmed and that he came round a corner at speed, lost control of his care and if the driver of the other mini hadn't taken instant action to avoid, a head on collision would have occurred . I don't understand the minimisation of this incident. If you look at the cars involved, the damage clearly indicates speed was a real factor.
If my three year old grandchild had been in the other car, fearful and weeping, I'd have been so very cross even if the driver who caused the collision hadn't been under the influence of alcohol because they were obviously driving too fast for the road conditions.

Thanks Anniebach - I've only seen it on line, BBC news thread or Daily Mail on line. It looks fairly gruesome and in one video, Ant gets out of his car looking unsteady on his feet and is then seen arguing with the police officer called to the scene. It's desperately sad but his behaviour isn't ok on any level imo.

At least they've both made enough money never to have to work again! So we won't see poor Dec at his local food bank - and I'm sure he could carry the show on his own anyway. I remember when Angus Drayton lost his job with Have I got News for You but it carried on with Paul Merton and Ian Hislop unaffected. No one's indispensable!Hopefully, Ant's learnt his lesson.
