Would you wear the "M" badge?

In the news today, Andrea McLean advocates women wearing a badge to show that they are menopausal and should be "cut some slack, like pregnant women". She feels it would be the same as having "Baby on Board" stickers in your car or "Please offer me a seat" badges. I think it's a bonkers idea and would not want to wear one personally. Would you want to wear one?

Think desperation has set in, anyone presenting Loose Women must be at the bottom of the career ladder.
Talk about playing the sympathy card. It's all relative isn't it, I'm sure our Paralympic athletes wish that was all they had to worry about.

trisher Fri 16-Mar-18 16:36:18

Oh yes let's have one! Mine will be PMMOW mind- Post Menopausal Mad Old Woman
I'd like one for some men as well- BOF Boring Old Fart
In fact everyone should have to wear a warning badge and be prosecuted if they don't ! grin

NotAGran55 Fri 16-Mar-18 16:46:19

No need to wear one as I have never had any menopausal symptoms smile

henetha Fri 16-Mar-18 16:58:32

What a load of codswallop.

gmelon Fri 16-Mar-18 16:59:31

sodapop "I'm sure our paralympic athletes wish that was all they had to worry about".

You are spot on about it all being relative.
Posting from my bed where I'm stuck after relapse of Multiple Sclerosis . One of my legs decided it doesn't want to play nice and do what my brain tells it.
Just bought a new wheelchair ?

How utterly ridiculous. There's nothing special about being menopausal, pregnant, or having a child in your car - it's all attention-seeking tripe. (I'm 58 and menopausal, by the way. I also have adult children and now grandchildren)

phoenix Fri 16-Mar-18 17:14:05

So, she wants badges?

TWAT = tired, worried, angry & territorial, I.e that's my chair, move!

TIREDLY = That is really enough, do lose yourself. (ok, spelling!)

IMHO = I'm menopausal, hop off.

HATERS= Hot and tetchy, exercise reasonable sensibilities

Moocow Fri 16-Mar-18 17:22:59

It's not todays generation it's the media and so called celebraties! Bonkers! Why don't they concentrate on telling it how it is eg how many have admitted to thinning hair since that other woman with the curly hair declared how upsetting shhas found it. Even when they did the body pic showing real women they hid and had prifessional stylists, tans etc. I'd love to know how they all seem to get bigger hairstyles as they get older!

Bathsheba Fri 16-Mar-18 17:24:24

Can I have an A badge please, to indicate that I have arthritis and may not be able to move out of your way as quickly as you'd like?
Oh, and an HT badge for my DH please, for his hypertension, so that anyone about to pick an argument with him might reconsider and 'cut him some slack' too.

Bathsheba Fri 16-Mar-18 17:25:25

The world is going barmy angry

M0nica Fri 16-Mar-18 17:26:58

Oh, Good grief, what next? time off for bad hair days?

If the menopause is making you seriously ill, see the doctor and get properly assessed, treated and if necessary take sick leave when needed. But lots of women wafting wearing badges because of their age.

It is not as if men do not also sometimes have fluctuating hormones. The mid-life crisis is very much a man thing.

As far as I am concerned sauce for the goose should also be sauce for the gander.

TwiceAsNice Fri 16-Mar-18 17:33:17

Oh for goodness sake! Pregnancy and the menopause are not illnesses. Just let people get on with it in private, what is this airing stuff in public all the time it drives me mad. Oh and haven't a clue who the woman is either!

BlueBelle Fri 16-Mar-18 17:48:55

What a load of old tosh
I think we should have a badge that says BO bugger off with all the stupid ‘please be kind to me I m different’ ideas gives me the pip

Chewbacca Fri 16-Mar-18 17:53:23

Phoenix as always, your post made me laugh out loud! I'll have the TWAT badge please. grin

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Mar-18 18:01:05

What a stupid idea.
But what a great thread grin

BK (bad knee) badge - do not dare comment on the fact that I am hobbling!!

Or just simply IABM badge
In a bad mood!

farview Fri 16-Mar-18 18:36:11

pheonixbadge wanted here also hahagrin

Elegran Fri 16-Mar-18 18:37:46

Should men have an MM badge for "male menopause" so that we are aware of their angst for their bygone youth?? That could replace the sudden ditching of the comfy fleece and roomy hatchback in favour of tight jeans, over-powering aftershave and low-slung sports car.

MissAdventure Fri 16-Mar-18 18:50:33

grin

Smithy Fri 16-Mar-18 18:53:39

I'll go for the IABM badge Jalima and hope I don't need to wear it too often!

Moocow Fri 16-Mar-18 19:00:41

MM badge sounds good then they could have an allowance towards that impractical. sports car etc they were supposed to desire and a few years off work with funds to help them pursue their lost Youth. Oh the fun they could have with that badge!

TerriBull Fri 16-Mar-18 19:21:07

Having briefly seen flicky haired, eye lash batting, manicured taloned, pert breasted trans woman India Willoughby of Big Brother scream at Amanda Barry "I'm a Real Woman" I could only put her tetchy behaviour down to the menopause, mood swings being a symptom and she is of course in the right age bracket. As she herself asserted, somewhat forcibly, "I'm a real woman". With that in mind Andrea McClean I give you the perfect candidate to trial run your weird notion. Good luck with it,Kick arse India won't take no shite cos, in her words"I'll say it again in case it hasn't sunk in I'm a Real Woman"

NanKate Fri 16-Mar-18 19:34:35

MAS = middle age spread
FAST = fat arse syndrome threatened
THAN = thinning hair arrived now
APE = arthritic parts eventually
SOAP = sex only available periodically
TUN = thermal undies necessary

Choose your badge and send me a fiver. ?

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Mar-18 19:42:57

Well, I will only wear IABM if anyone says:

Oh, you're limping a bit
You're a bit breathless!
Why don't you walk up the hill? Fancy taking your car to town just to carry home 5 bags of shopping.
What's happened to your hair?

Otherwise I will choose from a selection mention in the above posts -- all brilliant! grin

Katek Fri 16-Mar-18 19:49:22

Good god ..... no!
