We used to get 7lb catering bags of the stuff, it never seemed to run out!

Addressing my parents as Mum and Dad and their friends as Mrs Brown or if they were really close as Aunty May etc.
Our grandchildren ( eldest 4 yrs) addresses her parents by their first names.
Not sure if it’s a good thing or not but supposedly very hip! Parents friends are addressed by there 1st names we are traditional Grandma and Pop!

So many! Where do we start? Scullery - where we kept the mangle! Coal scuttle - where we kept the coal! The coal men - deliverying the coal (very scary with their heavy boots and dirty clothes!). The 'rag & bone men' , who were basically recycling unwanted clothes etc. Nissen huts - I was convinced that there were very frightening men living inside - on our way to Sunday School! Wireless - a great form of informatation & entertainment prior to television. Chilblains? Do they still exist now we have central heating and tumble driers? Give me time, I'll think of more!

We too have rag and bone men coming round occasionally. I do wonder where they're putting the stuff they collect but have no use for though. Do they fly tip it?

I once had to explain to my grandson where the expression, "Spend a penny." came from. I later heard him telling his friend that, "In the olden days, ladies had to put a penny in the door to use the loo". I was amused by the "olden days".
