I am not sure that my GC would know what a 'comic' is/was. They use the word 'magazine' to refer to the publications now aimed at their age group (they are 5 & 6), and I have to say that these overpriced glossy pieces of rubbish things aren't a patch on our traditional comics!

The generic term for a gaberdine school coat was 'Burberry' even if if wasn't made by that company. How different from its present-day up-market connotation.

Rag n’ bone man, I have had to explain this to my children, never mind the grandchildren. Also milkman, horse manure (we buy fertiliser at the garden centre now) and ghetto blaster.

Oh, I had a Barathea coat for school (hated it) and I never knew what Barathea was until your post and I looked it up.
