Hi my grandson who is 14 and openly gay asked me if he could go on holiday with his boyfriend who is 16. My grandsons boyfriends parents will also be going on holiday with them.
Should I let him or not ??? I don't know weather to say yes or no

Nope - they are all taking at face value - or at least they were last time I looked

So, no one went hmm?

chelseababy Fri 16-Feb-18 15:28:41

Need to talk to the other parents and ensure they don't sleep together as underage....

phoenix Fri 16-Feb-18 15:26:30

Chelseababy what was the reaction to his "mums" post on the other side?

nanaK54 Fri 16-Feb-18 14:48:14

You beat me to it chelseababy - it's a funny thing that his mum can't spell whether either hmm

I don’t think the fact that he is gay is the issue, I wouldn’t let a 14 yo girl go away on holiday with her 16 yo boyfriend and his family, so I wouldn’t let my son go either regardless of his sexual preferences.

Any minute now we're going to be accused of troll t**t hunting.

Actually I think it should be spotting not hunting as we can usually spot 'em a mile off.

Perhaps they were in the restaurant to celebrate his 13th and 14th birthdays.

judypark Fri 16-Feb-18 09:53:09

It was about Ugg boots and a restaurant in January and was deleted.
The gay grandson was 12.

fat fingers .... fooTwear

annodomini Fri 16-Feb-18 09:41:24

There was another thread - was it about uniform or foorwear? - that mentioned a gay grandson. Coincidence? hmm

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Feb-18 09:40:03

Haven't we recently had a similar thread or am I imagining it?
Usually in the school holidays merlot

Its weird to me that his sexual orientation seems to be the thing that is making you concerned about whether he should go on holiday or not, Nannyoffour. What difference does it make if he's gay or not? If this was a 14 year old girl going on holiday with her 16 year old bf and his family what would you say? I'd be having a chat with the other boys parents about how they will be keeping your GS safe in ALL ways, especially if they plan to travel overseas. Lemongrove - totally inappropriate comment.
Some posters seem to think that he's too young to know that he's gay - I certainly knew my sexual orientation! Yes, some people change but going on holiday with a bf when you're 14 whether you are a boy or a girl doesn't mean that's it, done, no going back!
Its a holiday with the parents of the other boy and an adult sister not a group of n'er do wells (is that how its written?!). I know what I would do smile

We all know, too, that it's probably the 14 year old winding us up for the end of half term! ??

Mapleleaf Fri 16-Feb-18 09:29:40

Why are some of you being so quick to pick up on the spelling errors? We all know what the op is asking. We all know, too, that these iPads, etc, have a mind of their own.

MawBroon Fri 16-Feb-18 09:14:59

On reading the whole thread though hmmhmm

MawBroon Fri 16-Feb-18 09:13:08

These last 2 posts are interesting coming one after the other.
What IS the legal situation and in any case, would most parents want to encourage it at such a young age?

loopyloo Fri 16-Feb-18 08:48:40

In this day and age, I presume he is already having sex with his boyfriend. I hope he is using condoms. Perhaps you can have an open talk with him about not being pressured to have sex and some of the health concerns. Perhaps he should have the hpv vaccination.

grannyticktock Thu 15-Feb-18 22:38:31

His sexual orientation shouldn't be an issue, as he is too young to be having sex legally. You (or your grandson's parents) will surely be talking to the boyfriend's parents about the ground rules for the holiday, just as you would if it was a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship. You really don't want to end up with your grandson involved in a court case.

An age just started in high school where bullying is so common even against children older than 14

phoenix Thu 15-Feb-18 22:12:50

hmm and hmm indeed!

Chewbacca Thu 15-Feb-18 22:04:08

No, not imagining it merlotgran. We've been here before.hmm
