We are halfway through half term and I am missing our regular fun on the price of school uniform/ugg boots and onesies.
Hope nobody’s Nan is poorly?
Mind you, Birmingham don’t have their half term until next week ......

Give it time. Our half term isn't until next week.

MrsJamJam Wed 14-Feb-18 19:28:18

Half term here so no time to post on Gransnetgrin

Christinefrance Wed 14-Feb-18 19:47:01

There was a short thread a couple of days ago.

Jalima1108 Wed 14-Feb-18 19:48:10

It's next week in Wales too grin

Why is Birmingham out of step with the rest of England? Are there a lot of Welsh people living there?

My GCs are busy munching their way through my cupboard and fridge. They do wave to me though when I walk past the window in the rain, taking their dog out for a walk.
Their school uniforms are so expensive that it’s usually the second hand route nowadays. Boots? 14 yr old GD has a great pair of Doc Martens, hates Uggs and wonders what she ever liked about her onesies, or baby grows as we used to call them!

Half term next week for us
All planned starting on Saturday with 4 year old grandson taking swimming badge.
Then with both DGS
Dragon hunt Sunday
Feeding lambs Monday
Butterfly farm Tuesday
Cake baking and probably a trip to cinema Wednesday. whew!
From then on Parents take over
from knackard GPs

We had a short thread recently not sure I'm allowed to say ...wink

Strangely I prefer the plimsolls and ugg boots paid for

So that may be that until Easter hols smile

Leamington is next week too. I fail to understand why state schools don't all have their holidays at the same time. But what do I know !!!

vampirequeen Wed 14-Feb-18 20:36:05

I like the 'why can't my grandson wear black plimsolls instead of proper shoes' threads.

nanaK54 Wed 14-Feb-18 20:42:38

I secretly enjoy them too grin

MawBroon Wed 14-Feb-18 21:01:31

Oh we all like them, we’re just not taken in! gringrin

Half term next week here and I am on the rota for Monday and Tuesday. DGS and I are going to a Pizza making workshop for children.

Welshwife Wed 14-Feb-18 21:20:12

In France they purposely have three different holiday schedules - the country is divided into three areas and they either have early. middle or late holidays. This means that some children have their Easter holiday before Easter and then just have the weekend off and the late ones have Easter well over before their break.
Many calendars or diaries have colour coded lines in them to show the various times - of course they do overlap too.

Derby next week too.

etheltbags1 Wed 14-Feb-18 21:40:15

Its half term in northumberland and sooo cold the poor kids cant get out much. Took dgd to shops and she was hidden under so many layers only her eyes were visible. Ive got her friday so i hope its a bit milder and we can go to the park.

BlueBelle Wed 14-Feb-18 21:45:55

Well we did have the teacher with disruptive kids who she didn’t allow to the toilet wasn’t that enough ?

GrandmaMoira Wed 14-Feb-18 21:58:25

We have half term here and whilst the DGD were here at the weekend we had a discussion about uniform skirts being too short. Where do people buy school skirts for adult size girls? My DGD is around 5ft 6" and adult size 12 and is not happy with a very short mini skirt and she doesn't want a pleated skirt. Looking online, most skirts are short and designed for children's figures.

Luckygirl Wed 14-Feb-18 22:00:47

Half term next week here - I was expecting lots of GC arriving from up north, but the bugs have struck and all cancelled!

NotTooOld Wed 14-Feb-18 22:13:03

Luckygirl, you truly are lucky! Did our turn early this week. Weather was terrible and hard to keep bored DGC off screens as per DD's instructions. didn't actually try that hard. grin

Jalima1108 Wed 14-Feb-18 22:44:03

I may take mine out next week and bye them some new plimsolls.
There feet gro so quick and I can't afford much, do you think £2 is to much?

MawBroon Wed 14-Feb-18 23:12:31
