Why on earth would they need to sell her to the public, .? I hope & believe most of the great British public are able to recognise a decent human being ,who no matter her status (either now or in the future) is a bonus to any family, charity or country .

He went to the Bowes Museum, and the news presenter said he was a direct descendant of the man who built the museum, John Bowes.
Very clever of him, as John Bowes never had any children.

'A member of the royal family...' as in 'A', singular, as in singling out to use your words. I'd use the word personalising. Royal Family the institution, as if 'family' does not denote PEOPLE

The confusion over descendant/ relative is entirely due to sloppy preparation on the part of the reporter. I heard one reporter talk about the living man who provided DNA to identify Richard lll as his ancestor.

eazybee I can't see why that is wrong. I watched a documentary about it and there was a man from Canada who was known to be descended from Richard III and so they took his DNA and it proved that the bones in the car park were Richard III's - so Richard III was his ancestor and he had been found. Maybe I am missing something?

eazybee Actually I see it now. His son seems to have died without offspring so ignore my last comment. They must have said related to in the documentary.
