Megan Markle has been making secret visits to comfort the survivors of Grenfel Towers , just like Diana use to make secret visits !

He wasn't even a descendant, but his mother was descended from one of Richard's sisters, I believe.

Thank you Jalima1108 for clearing that up for me.

Sick person.

Jalima1108 Thu 22-Feb-18 22:43:54

With a racist note attached according to the BBC News.

maryeliza54 Thu 22-Feb-18 23:10:33

Actually dj I don’t think the person is ‘sick’ - that suggests an aberration. I think racism is rife in the UK and it’s only because it’s the RF that this is in the news. I wonder how many individual acts of racism there have been today?

durhamjen Thu 22-Feb-18 23:50:18

It wasn't racism on its own, though. It was sending something that could have been anthrax.
How could anyone think of doing that?

maryeliza54 Fri 23-Feb-18 00:49:17

No it was the racist letter that’s relevant - it wasn’t anthrax - the fact it could have been is completely irrelevant - it’s rather hard to get hold of in any event

Iam64 Fri 23-Feb-18 08:00:30

The relevance must involve the racist letter and the package that was clearly intended to cause fear and distress. It isn't simply the racism that is dreadful. If a similar package had been sent to anyone, especially someone in the public eye, the media would have covered that story as well.

eazybee Fri 23-Feb-18 08:15:41

The package was sent to cause fear and distress; irrelevant to attempt to prioritise the importance of its contents.
What does impress is that the package was received on Monday 12th of February; the following day the couple went walkabout in Edinburgh.
Courageous.

Probably some complete nut job thinking they were being really funny. The royals were never in any danger as I doubt they ever open the Mail. I pity the person who does though.

Anniebach Fri 23-Feb-18 08:40:16

The package was sent to St.James Palace where their offices are run, they only personally open mail which has a secret coding on it, this package would have been delivered to the post room in St.James , doubt they would have known the following day.

gillybob Fri 23-Feb-18 08:51:38

The poor people in the post room must have to wear safety gear to open some mail Anniebach . I knew the royals would never have been in any danger.

gillybob Fri 23-Feb-18 08:52:25

There are some evil people around aren’t there?

Jalima1108 Fri 23-Feb-18 17:51:03

The people in the post room will be very aware of the need to be careful when opening unsolicited packages.

Anniebach Fri 23-Feb-18 17:59:15

They will have all the gadgets in existence to check all mail, bet they are snowed under with parcels now with the baby and a wedding in the diary

gillybob Fri 23-Feb-18 23:19:07

Sorry I know off subject ( and this won’t be popular with the royalists) but I really can’t understand why anyone would want to send a member of the royal family a wedding/engagement / baby present ?????

I mean just why ? Do they think they will use it ? Keep it? Display it? Wear it ? confused

maryeliza54 Fri 23-Feb-18 23:33:46

I’ve always thought that gilly. It’s all part of the fantasy woven around the mystique of the monarchy.

maryeliza54 Fri 23-Feb-18 23:35:09

Anyway, there should be the 3rd child rule like with benefits - no presents from the public for third and subsequent children.

merlotgran Fri 23-Feb-18 23:45:22

My grandmother used to say, 'One child for Father, one for Mother and one for the Empire.'

That would go down really well today. grin

durhamjen Fri 23-Feb-18 23:49:23

Was that when the tradition was for the second son to go into the army, merlot?

merlotgran Fri 23-Feb-18 23:58:46

Very likely, dj but in my mother's family it was the navy.

No family business to support the eldest unfortunately. grin

durhamjen Sat 24-Feb-18 00:09:43

My brother was the eldest, and he probably went into the army because he had three younger sisters!
No family business either to support him - or us.

Anniebach Sat 24-Feb-18 08:51:16

I am sorry your brother couldn't find work .

My brother had four older sisters, became self employed when young, built up a very successful firm. Certaintly no family business to inherit, only the genes of generations of coal miners , certaintly no fear of hard work ?

Alexa Sat 24-Feb-18 09:07:22

Megan is not like Diana. Megan is welcomed as a valuable member of the family firm not as a pedigreed brood mare.

Anniebach Sat 24-Feb-18 09:12:22

Doesn't cause problems for the line of succession if Megan has or doesn't have children, if they have a child it will be same as Beatrice and Eugenie
