Can't unwind tonight

Wide awake - hearing the owls hooting outside. Even taken a “Dopeyclone” (Zopiclone) but no difference.
Ah well.

I think Zopiclone works once you want it to, I.e. once the light is out and you close your eyes. It’s horrible being awake Maw and you will have lots of thoughts going on. I wish you a decent night’s sleep once you get off.

I'm awake too. Got a horrible headache, and I would really like a cup of coffee. And a biscuit, actually.

I often do that, and keep instant decaf especially for those times. I hope you get to sleep soon. Someone posted a link to an article about how the full moon can affect sleep - nothing to do with its light shining.

My flat has a sensor light outside the bathroom: the council very kindly fitted it directly above my bathroom window. Its been malfunctioning for weeks, aside from the fact that its ridiculously bright. So, it pulses on/off every 30 seconds, and lights up the whole flat. Its like being at a rave (so I would imagine)

I take Zopliclone and it makes me sleepy for about an hour. If I don't settle down within that time, my mind's buzzing again. I had to watch Jeremy Paxmans Victorians tonight. Turned light off and was wide awake. I'm going downstairs to toast a muffin. I don't mind being awake but usually end up useless the next day! Worrying about how much coal I'm getting through at the moment.......... Far too expensive and house is freezing by morning. Groan....

I'm hungry. I ate healthily today, now I'm ravenous!

I've got a hot chocolate and a seedy flatbread thingy with marmalade on. Then i'll be needing to brush my teeth, and that will wake me up!

The only way I can get any sleep is to use sleep guided meditation.
Not meditation music- that actually winds me up!

I personally Google Jason Stevenson's guided sleep meditation on my pad and use one side of an ear piece (not to disturb my sleeping like a baby DH)

Depending how anxious I'm feeling I choose either a guided meditation for sleep or
one for anxiety issues. (There are several to choose from).

It took me a about a week of using every night before I finally got the hang of it.
The ones I listen to are on YouTube and last about 30 minutes, my pad (Amazon) switches off after a few minutes of no activity.

My sleep problems came with the menopause.
I can't have HRT .
Lack of sleep was having a detrimental affect on me.
The meditation has helped me considerably.
I am prone to night sweats, that wake me and returning to sleep was virtually impossible.
So I switch on my pad and usually get back to sleep until the next hot flush.

Reading all your posts while I’m struggling to stay awake due to jet lag. I’m usually a bad sleeper to, I never go to bed before midnite and I always need to read for 30 mins to free my mind then when I’m feeling sleepy book goes down light off and asleep I go. Insomnia runs in my family, my dad and DD suffered/ suffer from it. Body exhausted, mind still buzzing around like crazy. I’ve read that there is a special lamp that you can get to help for it and the reviews are good I think it’s called a “ moon lamp”.
