Lots of you will remember my problems with my mother and the fact that she was the cause of my brothers and I being estranged for so long and that she died in February.

Today, I went to see the brother who has no children to exchange presents and to admire the alterations they have had done to their house. We couldn't stay long as they were going out to see my other brother's daughter and her baby son. They had a big bag of presents and were talking very excitedly about seeing the baby etc.

They have no relationship with my children or grandchildren because Mum was always 'briefing against' my family to both of my brothers.

My children have each other and a good relationship with DH's brothers and children but I have been really upset that they have none with my family and that my family have missed the chance to have a relationship with my lovely children and grandchildren.

Bet you thought you'd seen the end of my and my rants about mum, sorry but it helps to get it off my chest.

Your mother has gone now. Could you not start afresh, and invite your brothers to your house for a new beginning?

That is very sad kitty. Is it too late to invite your family over for tea or something sometime and then they meet your children and gcs.?
I havnt seen my brothers children and gc for many years abd tgere is littke if any contact between the cousins.
I am used to it now but it must be hard if there is another sibling where there is contact.
Try not to stew about it as i am sure you have enough going on in your life.

My mother also died in February and throughout my life she always made me feel guilty. I don't know that I've even grieved for her and on here as Christmas looms i read of people missing loved ones who have died but I don't feel that so even in death she is making me feel guilty but it's very difficult when you are constantly told your brother is better than you and that the only reason she had children was so that they could look after her when she got older which is exactly what I did with no thanks only criticism.
