Jigsaw tables

Annie Have you thought of looking in a charity shop such as Age UK for a smallish table you can use for your jigsaws/meals etc you can pick them up very cheaply it doesn't matter what the condition is as you can easily cover it,also when doing a jigsaw you can get one of those jigsaw roll mats so it can be put away when using said table for meals/crafts etc.

DH has one of these. You can get them from Argos for less than the price on the photo and it keeps everything secure. You can prop it on a chair if you don’t have a suitable table. Then you just zip it up and put it aside. They are more stable than the roll up ones.

Annie I have had a quicksearch on Ebay and there are several small Ikea gateleg tables for sale. They have storage drawers too, which would take bits and pieces.

Can't someone who you have helped in the past take you to the charity shops? Or take you to one of the people who have advertised gateleg tables for sale on Freeserve, Gumtree or Ebay? Or are you being all independent and I-can-manage?

I have a piece of hardboard with a small frame moulding tacked around the edge to keep it stable and stop bits sliding off. (It was originally a price list on a hairdresser's wall) It will sit on top of a coffee table, trolley or side table and when not in use it slides under the sofa, Mine is big enough to take a 1000 piece puzzle with room to sort pieces at the side, but if you prefer a smaller jigsaw you can complete in a few evenings, you wouldn't need as big a board.

No Cherry, I have two sofas and one coffee table in the living room, no room for a solid table to put a board on

No help to you Annie but I would not buy the rollaway as suggested by glamma I had one byt it didn't keep the pieces in place. I now have similar to Greyduster's pic which is great.

nina I have always wondered if they where any good to be honest as I have never had one myself I just thought it could be the answer and make Annie's life easier.
Home and Bargain did used to do a fold flat table which my mum used for lunch etc she then folded it up behind the sofa when not in use it was a useful little piece of furniture and very cheap.

Annie, if you can afford it, you could buy a small folding table online, new or second hand and have it delivered to your door. No need to get out, just answer the front door and leave the packaging out for the bin men.

Annie There is a small gateleg table on Ebay at the moment, with only one bid on it - for 99p. Less than an hour to go until bidding ends. A bid at about 5 mins before the end for an amount you can afford could secure it for you.

It is "collection only" but an email to the seller before you make up your mind would get their permission to have a courier pick it up. You have to organise that yourself, if you win it, or come to some agreement with the seller.

There are firms which specialise in doing this kind of delivery service. One of them is www.parcelmonkey.co.uk/ebay-couriers which sounds OK - it is listed by Ebay which they would not do if they had had any complaints. They need to know the weight, but the seller could tell you that.

If you are feeling more flush, ikea norden gateleg table is small and neat and has drawers for storage. There are a lot of them secondhand on the net.

I have a folding table, it’s just big enough to hold a plate, cutlery and a drink! I can also balance (very carefully!) a jigsaw case. When I don’t want it around it folds flat and goes behind the sofa. It came from Dunelm.

How big are most 1,000 piece puzzles? Would this one be big enough for one?

The trouble is that you need to put pieces round the side (well we do) and keep looking to see what fits where, so perhaps not big enough

I have just looked at three of our 1000 piece puzzles and they are all around 70x50 cms, although one is 73x50.

How kind,thank you all. Think I need to get measuring tape out, just wish I had wall space. Younger daughter suggested getting rid of sofa I don't sit on and putting table and chairs in it's place, any visitors can sit on dining chairs,! I get very few, sitting on dining chairs may put the few off. ?

I understand how you can’t go into town, but is there anyone who could go for you? British Heart Foundation often have a lot of furniture and there might be a folding table thst would suit you, or other charity shops might have something small enough. Ideally, if the person could take a photo on their phone and show you, but it would mean their doing another journey. I’m sure you can sort something out Annie. You can also get good 2ndhand jigsaws in charity shops, if you can tell whoever goes what kind of picture you prefer. Best of luck.

I haven't anyone who can look for me, son in law is working overtime and clearing my daughters house. Granddaughters in university. Now town is out for me I think I will have to advertised for someone to do these things for me .

Anyone at the church who might help? Annie don’t be afraid to ask. People would be only to glad to help you out, I’m sure. But you need to ask!
