I can remember my shoes, my gown was deep cream and shoe shops only had white so I had a pair of shoes dyed to match the gown

No, auntieflo. I haven’t a clue. Can’t see my feet on the photos. As it snowed on our wedding day I may well have had wellies under there smile.

I’ve still got the home made cotton mini- dress I got married in. As we went on the tube to the registry office I must have worn shoes but I have no idea what they were. I do remember, however, that my tights were falling down. No need for a going away outfit as we were back at work on the Monday. Some of my colleagues didn’t believe I had got married and others assumed I was pregnant. They were all wrong.

I remember everything I wore when I got married and my going away outfit (navy and cream fitted dress and matching coat) except the shoes but I guess they were navy with a low heel??
I certainly remember going to Majorca for my honeymoon as it was the first time I had been abroad apart from a day trip to France when I was at school.

That has made me smile Auntieflo and made me think. No I can't remember my shoes either, I must look out photographs later and see if they are visible under my long dress.
The thing that made me smile was the " going away outfit" do people have them these days?
I had a really lovely fitted dress in oyster grey with a matching jacket, long black suede gloves and matching handbag, I thought I looked the bee's knees, I was just 21 and very slim. That was 59 years ago, would I go back? Never.

I have just been reading an article on couples who have been married for a long time. We were married 55 years ago, last September, and I cannot for the life of me remember what my wedding shoes looked like!! My dress, yes, headress, yes, the flowers arriving and being put in the bath to keep cool. Even what I had for dinner, before getting dressed in all my finery before going to Church. But my shoes, NO. I can see my going away outfit, suit, gloves, and yes even those lovely shoes, so why can't I recall my wedding shoes? I presume that I did wear some. wink. Any one else got a blind spot in their memory of a, supposedly, memorable occasion?
