I spent the morning breaking the thick sheet ice covering the whole of our large front graveled area. You could not walk or drive on it and it had to be broken apart.

The garden is still covered in 6" of snow which seems determined to stay put.

Supermarkets in the town don't deliver Jalima. Just Asda and Tesco come here with deliveries.

Town is clear but snow still on the mountains , wish it would go, always said here if it lingers it's waiting for more, I hope not. I had a delivery today , I miss my local meat supplier though. My granddaughters are not staying at home, they in villages with friends, people kept asking them how they were so they explained to their Dad and me and we both agree they need to have a break from it all. So they are not near to help with shopping , I will get sorted

Ours has more or less disappeared here; however, we went over to Wales today and could see snow on the distant hills/mountains north of Newport.

Jalima , I feel like an intensive farmed chicken ,stuck indoors for days .

I will get my shopping sorted , takes time to adjust, think I need to advertised on our town site for a shopper.

We live atop a hill in the forest and have been snowed in for three days
at last the thaw so its back to the shops !

The chicken from Tesco shouldn't have been frozen previously, at least I hope not as it should say 'do not freeze' on it. I have always frozen it if I do buy it from there. I buy the free-range from Tesco but, of course, it may only have had half an hour a day outside

More than some of you who are stuck indoors with the snow.

Third day of not being able to get out - I am getting cabin fever. Lovely neighbour ventured to Asda and picked up a few bits for us. I am hoping that there will be a bit of a thaw tomorrow as I have missed carol concerts etc at GCs' schools - hoping to catch up later in the week. My singing group threatening to arrive with spades tomorrow.

I live in London and remember the worst winter in 1963. Since then we have had snow that laid on the ground every few years. Mid 80s (I think 1986) it was very deep and my sons school was closed and the clinic I worked at. We had three years 2008/09/10 recently when the snow laid. It wasn't deep but very icy where I live and I can't go out in it, simply can't keep my balance.

I love our council, I live in a cul de sac, lawn to the front and a path leading to the road, council just cleared and gritted the paths but not the road so still couldn't get out if I wanted to , seven foot cleared path leading to snowed up Road.?

starbird, I did a morning paper round too at that time, never missed a day! I remember cycling with the huge bag balanced on my handlebars with the snow piled up around me to shoulder height. In those days everyone cleared their snow.

In recent years I have always single-handedly cleared the car park for our terrace of 12 houses, even though I didn't need to get my car out. This year, as it was a Sunday and residents were at home, I left it to see what happened and just did my own property. The car park is now like a rutted ice rink and impassable as it is on a slope.
Heavy rain forecast for tomorrow so that should be the end of it.

Peering into the gloom we seem to have a light dusting of snow on the grass in Norfolk - or a heavy frost. The house roofs are clear though.

You’ll have to stock up on free range chicken when you can get there Annie. More calories in a slow grown chuck.

Having to adjust to a different way of shopping, have bought my chicken for years from a chap who has free range poultry. Can no longer buy from him so am really struggling with coming to terms with chicken from Tesco, don't want it but have to have some meat in my diet. Have no wish to freeze chicken from .Tesco, what if it has been frozen previously. I will get more organised . I have the Ensure to fall back on . This introducing a little at a time is annoying. Sorry this thread is about snow not my diet x

Have you got anything in the freezer annie?

Still not a hint of snow here in SW Wales. I feel quite deprived but glad to do without the hassle.

Oh dear; the roads were cleared here so we went out and stocked up just in case, basics nothing Christmassy.

I want my grocery delivery , nothing since Wednesday, they cancelled Saturday, Monday and tomorrow, son in law just done three mile walk to get chicken for me

I’m a bit happier now, the rain has stopped and we’ve had a glorious sunset. The met office have now changed their minds and we are forecast freezing temperatures this week and a sunny day tomorrow, then more rain so black ice for us.

No snow here in Glasgow, just four glorious sunny days, the last two freezing cold but wonderful with a hard frost.

Sorry * NfkDumpling * - but there is something about snow that can make any view beautiful. I never fail to be excited by it.

I know, I know, it is a huge inconvenience to many, but I just think of all those children with a day off school out and about on sledges - brilliant!

Winter of 62, I spent hours and hours on the mountains looking for air holes in the hope of saving sheep, sadly we dug out a lot of dead ones but saved some too. The hill ponies were a hard task , they headed down hill but onto roads, not that there was traffic to worry about , just tractors

Shurrup, Luckygirl. The view from my window of the car park opposite through the gloomy heavy drizzle is miserable! It's 4C here in Norfolk and darkly overcast. Horrible.
