What is in your garden ?

I have a few buddhas - various sizes from 3 ft - to 8" - been collecting buddhas for 30+ years - my favourite one is a small wooden one which we got made on holiday in Kenya (years ago) saw these guys chisseling wood and asked him to make me one - gave instructions - found out they were prisoners!

We also have a bird feeding station,a small tree with loads of bird feeding seed holders hung on branches,a spinning sunflower thing,a weather station, solar lights strung up between trees,also a pond with frog lights around it,and a decoy heron,he's my favourite,as he looks almost real.

We downsized so we have a communial garden. I have always wanted a little Buddha in my living room they are supposed to be lucky.

I have one Buddha at the back of the bungalow accompanied by a hedgehog. Two Chinese figures either side of the front door and in the front patio there's another Buddha and a pink, stone pig.

I feel a bit left out. We've nothing in ours apart from what grows there, a couple of benches and the clothes dryer.

I love my little bits and pieces in our garden - all quite small and hidden around which the grandchildren love to find- rabbit, owl, hedgehog, mouse and 2 birds! My husband says no more, but you never know! They all are from National Trust shops so not tacky I argue!!

2 small buddhas, a pagoda shaped water feature and some bamboo art. OH is keen on the orient, We used to have a big koi pond too but sadly that has had to go as we can't manage it anymore.

We have Roe Deer and Muntjac in our garden - real ones not stone ! Our house backs onto aptly named Roebuck Woods and we leave the gate open for them to wander in .

A stone Buddha, he lives beside a Japanese Maple, along with a stone dragon and two granite lamps.
Two metal heads, one stag, one antelope.
Five stone Green Men in various locations.
A stainless steel 7ft light up tree, and several other smaller lights.
Lots of stone/marble/pottery/granite balls!!!
3 tall copper ducks & a copper owl.
A 7ft tall double wind spinner and a 4ft single one to match.
A stone tortoise, fox and lion.
And, my personal favourite, a bronze vampire bat hanging upside down on the kitchen wall!
There are plants and grass too!

My DD brought me a small metal Buddha from a holiday in Nepal and he sits on top of a bookcase in the sitting room.

I love him and bought a stone Buddha head as a result. He sits in the garden looking at me throught the patio doors and I find him very soothing and calming. Our resident wren likes to sit on his head in between hunting for food.

I have a large stone Buddha in my garden. It literally weighs a ton ! It was my 50th Birthday present... which means it's been here long enough now to weather and grow moss ! The folded hands are a perfect place for a large candle. I absolutely love it.

I had a beautiful, large stone Buddha, sent from Indonesia by a friend. He was nicked and they just left the lotus flower base he was sitting on (I think they're not supposed to sit on the ground or on the floor). They must have planned it, cos when it was delivered it was brought on a cart from the lorry. Not only would the thieves had got bad karma they would also have, I imagine, bad backs.

Large Bill & Ben plus Little Weed at the bottom of the garden,a Railway clock fixed to the wall by the bedroom window a Church mirror fixed to underneath the wall by the eves with some Spanish plates and various wooden tubs with winter pansies and 5/6 hanging baskets along the back wall.

A plastic heron, realistically re painted by DH, on the edge of the pond. He looks a bit lonely though. The heron, not DH?

Love the owl Hilda, it is similar to one that I nearly bought recently! It was meant to peep over the top of a gate or fence.

Ok, seems that will do then! To be fair, our garden is on two levels and he couldn’t be higher than he is (unless I tie him to the fence!).

- assorted light-up gnomes and fairies
- a little light-up cottage
- assorted little animals - cat, tortoises, rabbits etc.
- a coconut shell tortoise with a nodding head
- a fountain with tiny coloured lights that shine out of the stones around it.
- a sandpit

Some of these things were here when we arrived and some have been acquired for the delight of the GC.

I was told to turn my Buddha around as he was facing north west. Towards the dark and the sinking sun. Apparently south and east and more optimistic and better luck!

A stone globe/sundial thing that was here when we bought the house. A bird table that is out all year round. Put away for the winter are a colourful spinny thing and an owl on a stand. Here's a photo of the owl.

I thought that I read somewhere that a Buddha should always be placed high above everything but cannot see how that would work in a garden.

NfK is there some significance to a Buddha facing South? Mine is facing East. Ought I to turn him round?

2 Buddhas, a stone rabbit hidden among plants, a stone fairy called Bluebell which a previous neighbour presented me with when she moved, loads of pebbles from different countries, wooden wind chimes and a stone "sun" (the only one we get here!).
