Physiotherapist asked to see how I sit for most of the day. In my defence I have retired. I lie on sofa, head and shoulders against cushions against sofa arm, feet on other arm. Not my fault my bum is right on the spot where the two seat cushions meet.

She looked closely then said - oh you are the same shape as a banana .

Any other banana shaped members here ?

So many of these comments give me a wide grin. You're such a witty lot when the topic permits. Thank you.

I am an apple shape. But I sometimes describe myself as a tadpole shape, round middle and long slim legs, or could be a flamingo.

brunswick Sun 26-Nov-17 13:37:24

Bye the way that is not a put down for me. I am actually laughing. An ex of mine once said I was like a flamingo, because I had long slim legs!

My husband was so skinny at school, his nickname was string bean.

recently he returned for a 40 years reunion... and as he walked in, a wag shouted....

looks like string bean has turned into broad bean !!

BlueBelle very pleased to read your post: until my cat died last year, I always sat on the floor while eating porridge, then Fudge would lick my bowl and sit on my legs! Happy days smile

Thank you brunswick I also have slim legs.... although officially an apple.
I can now call myself a flamingo.

I'm probably banana shaped when I sit. Always round-shouldered, I try to remember to swing my arms about after being on the computer (or sewing machine) to loosen them up a bit.
Trying to stand on one leg while cleaning my teeth makes my little ankles all wobbly.

Walking into the kitchen last night, light on in living room not in kitchen my reflection was in kitchen window, my left shoulder was about two inches higher than the right, had been on iPad most of the day and evening , not good

Elegran Sun 26-Nov-17 17:38:42

It sounds as though you really need some way to sit straighter.

Anniebach Sun 26-Nov-17 17:43:55

Yes Elegran, I really do, must get myself together , little wonder my balance isn't good, I must be all out of alignment

Nelliemoser Sun 26-Nov-17 17:51:35

I wish I knew what you are talking about. I have been busy all weekend and my computer is playing up.

Elegran Sun 26-Nov-17 18:01:09

Would a swivelling chair be useful? You could turn it to face the TV or the window without turning your neck sideways, and a single more upright chair would be better for your back and you even-ness than slouching sideways on the sofa. Something like this (that one is very cheap, but looks rather weary. However, if you could get a look round charity shops or look online on Gumtree and so on, you might find something better without breaking the bank)

A lap tray works well for an iPad, or even an ordinary cushion.

Anniebach Sun 26-Nov-17 18:09:39

Ooooh, that swivel armchair could become a nest , didn't know there such a thing, I am going to get the living room sorted, difficult because rather a small room but am sure it can be done. Thank you so much Elegran .

Off topic forgive me must tell

Today I hit 1,200 calories instead of usual 600 , avoid the insomniac thread tonight posters x

Jalima1108 Sun 26-Nov-17 19:34:22

Hurray, Well done.

We were going to buy two swivelling armchairs with footrests for the conservatory- some of them are really expensive but I am trying to remember where we saw some that were quite reasonable.

sorry, racking my pea brain

Jalima1108 Sun 26-Nov-17 19:36:02

Can't remember, but Wayfair have some

MissAdventure Sun 26-Nov-17 19:55:29

This video is worth watching, as are their other ones. I watch them often: whilst I'm squashed up on my sofa, leaning left, shoulders hunched..

Bloomin’ heck Annie! 1200 calories. Well done! That’s my ambition too - but in the other direction! (Well, I actually aim at 1000 but there’s these mince pies which really need eating)

Anniebach Sun 26-Nov-17 21:31:50
