BREXIT? Am I just plain stupid?

John Graces sketch on yesterday’s public accounts committee session on the U.K. and its borders post Brexit, with civil servants was hardly revealing.

It basically boiled down to the fact the civil servants are clueless as to what will happen as it evidently became clear over the NI problem.

I’m talking about eu food tariffs. I actually have no idea what wto tariffs are but I do know they are high and the rules complicated.

On the subject of NI borders. Given the fact that the civil servants appeared to have no idea what checks should be required, and also given the fact that zero has been done to date in relation to the customs infrastructure/ employment and training. And given the fact that to have this set up by doomsday is impossible. I take the latest stated border on the Ni problem with a pinch of salt.

I have raised the Posted Workers Directive time and time again on various threads as it allowed for EU workers to undercut our wages. I also remember you (and a few others) have taken issue with me several times and said this was not the case.

Since the Brexit referendum the EU has debated on several occasions the Posted Workers Directive and the EU has ' just' (October 2017) revised the 1996 agreement so I am wondering what Corbyn has persuaded Macron to do as I have obviously an interest in the PWD.

I am pretty sure Macron can think for himself and wonder why Corbyn has 'persuaded' Macron on this subject. Have you heard of the Macron Law?

How well I remember those 'discussions' on here you and I were accused of talking rubbish and that no such situation was going on.
I'm confused as to why Corbyn has jumped on board this one when it has been going on for eons and Corbyn was very much in favour of this cheap labour being imported to the uk.

He probably doesn't understand what it means.
It also means if we don't get an agreement we can stay in.

Actually, the government agreed on a rolling programme to sort out Northern Ireland, EU citizens and the amount to be paid before discussions on the trade deals could begin.
Saying nothing is agreed before everything is agreed doesn't change that fact, as Davis himself agreed to it.

Even by your stretch of the imagination they are hardly the same thing. A rolling programme means that these issues are still being discussed.
So, nothing to get excited about.

I assumed the rolling programme was that instead of paying a huge one off payment they were going to pay the fees as they would have become due anyway. As far as I can make out from what Barnier says nothing extra is being added it is just the money UK has agreed to pay. It will be the last couple payments we may need to be paying after we leave

Why on earth has it taken so long to at least agree what should be included in the brexit divorce bill? We are governed by idiots. Brexit is a nonsense, promoted by foriegn billionaire owners of the right wing gutter press.

Petra, a shame you cannot understand something so simple as that.
May and Davis agreed that they would have to agree to sorting out the Irish border problem, the problem of EU residents in the UK, and the problem of how much we had to pay to get released from the EU.
When sufficient progress had been made on those things, they would be able to talk about trade deals.
Sufficient progress has not been made on them yet, not even the amount of money, which is where May has given in and said she will more or less double her first offer.

So simple, really.
The government agreed on a rolling programme right from the start, meaning they couldn't go onto the next step until the first three steps had been sorted out.
I know I am repeating myself here, but it looks as though I have to to get you to understand.
