We live near a smallish student town so I'm quite used to seeing strange sights but, today while stuck in traffic, I watched a chap come out of what looked like a student house in his dressing gown and slippers (no obvious pyjamas) and walk about quarter of a mile to Domino's, buy a pizza and walk back! shock

Don’t think the young wear pjs Kitty - maybe he had boxers underneath? But what a sight! You were stuck in traffic a long time!

NfkDumpling Sat 28-Oct-17 16:04:20

Well, if mumsies can shop in their onesies, why not?

ninathenana Sat 28-Oct-17 17:30:01

That was some traffic queue kitty smile
H wears short style PJ bottoms which aren't visible under his dressing gown, so I'll give him the benifit of the doubt, brave move though.

This slopping about in your nightwear seems to be a popular phenomenon nowadays in some areas.?

Luckygirl Sat 28-Oct-17 17:43:09

I am always answering the door to the postman in my dressing gown!

Luckygirl Sat 28-Oct-17 17:43:59

Oh gosh, that sounds as though I have a postman in my dressing gown! grin

Greyduster Sat 28-Oct-17 17:47:38

Lucky you!

glammanana Sat 28-Oct-17 17:48:18

Could be wanting to save on delivery charge with him living so close to the shop.

lemongrove Sat 28-Oct-17 17:51:26

But if you say ‘opening the door in my dressing gown etc ‘ then it sounds worse * Lucky* grin

lemongrove Sat 28-Oct-17 17:52:58

Once any taboo about trailing around town and shopping in nightwear is removed then it will become more commonplace. ?

JoyBloggs Sat 28-Oct-17 18:01:20

Kitty perhaps be grateful it wasn't a windy day... or maybe then you really would have 'seen it all' shock

Jalima1108 Sat 28-Oct-17 18:02:15

I think it is the done thing in certain areas.

KatyK Sat 28-Oct-17 18:02:17

I've seen young women in my local town in clothes shops and supermarkets wearing dressing gowns and slippers.

3 years ago my son spent a day at The Guardian as part of his politics A level and was invited to the morning editorial meeting . One of the sub - editors wore PJs and flip-flops smile

grumppa Sat 28-Oct-17 18:43:39

Make it a regular trip; you might get to see even more!

MawBroon Sat 28-Oct-17 18:46:44

<sshh> kittylester wasn’t actually in a traffic queue - she was parked up (did you escape a ticket? ) grin

Imperfect27 Sat 28-Oct-17 18:51:36

grumppa grin.

vampirequeen Sat 28-Oct-17 19:02:44

That's nothing compared to how some people in America go to Walmart. Next time I get a link I'll post it. They are really bizarre.

CherryHatrick Sat 28-Oct-17 19:07:45

I call my dressing gown a house coat and then feel it is quite appropriate at any time of the day. grin

bumblebee123 Sat 28-Oct-17 22:11:17

NfkDumpling, err, what is a onesie?
Brian. {I am old}.confused.

Bellanonna Sat 28-Oct-17 22:36:28

It’s an all-in-one outfit Brian with a zip down the front. I’ve just bought one for my little GD with a hood, which also has ears. Really sweet.

Nelliemoser Sat 28-Oct-17 23:21:00

I really think that shopping in your pyjamas is the end of the line in acceptable behaviour.

The slippery slope to degradation. grin

Well I have perhaps over stated the issue but let's say I find it really slutty. grin

I have seen several people in my neighbourhood popping into the newsagents in their dressing gowns and slippers or jumping into their cars and heading off. I think it's very odd.

Having said that, I do go out to the dustbin or hang out the washing in my dressing gown, and no doubt some people would not approve of that either.

NfkDumpling Sun 29-Oct-17 06:15:14

I did, once, very early in the morning before anyone else was up, put the bin out in my dressing gown just before the bin men got here. I don't think anyone saw me but I felt very brazen. (I did brush my hair first!)
