Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

JaneD3 Mon 15-Jan-18 02:17:26

Just decamped to the spare room. DHs CPAP mask very noisy tonight

WilmaKnickersfit Mon 15-Jan-18 02:50:32

Awake with my hiatus hernia giving me pain. hmm oh it does hurt, and ridiculously, I don't take the meds prescribed to help it. I would rather sit up half the night clutching my chest, apparently.

Grandma70s Thu 18-Jan-18 05:56:50

I suppose I must have slept a bit, but I feel as if I have been awake all night. There was a very noisy gale blowing for much of the night, which didn’t help.

It is comforting to know how many other people suffer from insomnia. In real life I don’t seem to know anyone who does.

MissAdventure Thu 18-Jan-18 06:02:20

There is a gale blowing here, with gusts up to 70mph.

Billybob4491 Thu 18-Jan-18 06:04:23

MissAdventure, propped up by many pillows in bed may be of help to you .Grandma70s gale still blowing here and throughout the night, just wondering what damage has been caused.

MissAdventure Thu 18-Jan-18 06:12:37

BillyBob I start off propped up, and then slide into my usual scrunched up position as I nod off. I wish I could stay more straightened out. I'm sure it would help.
The wind is absolutely rattling around here, and the building I live in is totally encased in scaffolding at the minute. The poles are banging against the windows. I'm worried some damage is going to be done. The planks are rattling like crazy.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 18-Jan-18 06:41:26

Same here. The top of the stone bench under my bedroom window has been rattling all night. I've just made a hot drink and got back into bed. Hopefully now the wind has dropped I can get some sleep. Thank goodness I don't have to go to work. Please don't let the daylight show a fence panel down. Sorry to hear about your pain MissA flowers

Grandma70s Thu 18-Jan-18 08:40:18

When you’ve had a really terrible night, what do you do the next day if you have any choice? My instinct is to stay in bed all day, but I wonder if it would better to battle on with a normal day. On the other hand, I feel so awful I think I will go back to bed. I have a completely free day today, apart from feeding myself and doing absolutelyessential chores.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 18-Jan-18 08:44:45

At the moment I'm not very well (but getting better), so I admit I am indulging myself by getting back into bed. blush

On the other hand, if you're not doing any harm what's wrong with choosing how you spend your day? wink

Anniebach Thu 18-Jan-18 09:17:03

I spend every day doing what I feel like doing and not doing what I don't feel like doing , spent lot of time on the sofa thinking what I would like to be doing but can't

Day6 Fri 19-Jan-18 01:51:37

I was up at 8am, and have had a reasonably busy day but have yet to yawn or even feel tired. (1:50am.) I hate that I seem to be surviving on an average of about four hours sleep in 24. I am wide awake and listening to music on my headphones. OH falls asleep the minute he sits down during the day (he is always napping) and still sleeps soundly at night. I am very envious. I went to bed at 11pm, read, did puzzles, tried to sleep, without success, so I am now up, posting on here, drinking decaff tea and bopping along (on the sofa) to Kiss's "I wanna rock and roll all night, and party every day" which I recently discovered. grin

I might as well enjoy the wee small hours if I have to be awake during them. I ought to have been a vampire, or a bat, or an owl.

Anniebach Fri 19-Jan-18 06:01:36

I long for a full nights sleep , 4 hours sleep? Day6 what is the secret ?

cornergran Fri 19-Jan-18 06:17:19

Hello. First time in a couple of weeks I’ve really struggled with sleep. Yes, I know, very lucky. Been trying a different medication for pain, good for sleep, less good for my ability to think the next day. So as with most things good and not so good, seems whichever way thinking clearly isn’t going to happen. Been awake every couple of hours, bored now. Sorry the nights are still not for sleeping annie, out of your choices I think I’d opt for an owl day6, go for the wisdom smile. Wishing all non sleepers a calm and safe day.

Ginny42 Fri 19-Jan-18 06:44:59

Well I'm at my daughter's and an hour ahead of UK time and I have to stay in bed until my grandson goes to school. If I show my face he wants to chat and then there's a terrible rush and I get into trouble. Best I stay in bed, although I've been awake and reading the UK news and weather. Hope you don't waken to any structural damage or deep in snow.

MissA sorry to hear you're in pain. Could you raise the mattress from underneath?

To all those suffering from anxiety, my acupuncturist told me that in traditional Chinese medicine, the hours between 3 and 5.00 a.m. are considered the grieving hours. I used to waken at almost exactly 3.00 a.m. every morning until the grief eased.

Ginny42 Sat 20-Jan-18 04:16:18

Been awake about an hour now and had a good trawl of GN. Recovering from a bad cold and been sleeping at odd hours so it's not surprising that my body is confused. Hope the usual wakeful people are sleeping soundly and not in pain or unable to sleep with anxiety.

Anniebach Sat 20-Jan-18 04:30:38

Having tea and rennies as usual, would so like to sleep through the night

Nana3 Sat 20-Jan-18 06:36:13

I'm having tea and a biscuit, not so early now though. Hope the rennie worked Annie.

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 21-Jan-18 04:28:44

Hope you are enjoying some sleep time. I've tried all my usual tricks to get off to sleep, but I just don't seem to be able to drop off. I can get completely relaxed and be on the edge, but I can't quieten my mind tonight.

Some conversations have set my mind off on a stupid track. I've booked a train ticket to see my Mum next month and I worry if it will be the last time I see her, or something happening to her before I get there. I worry about her losing my Step-Dad. I wish she didn't live so far away. I need to find a way to stop worrying about something that hasn't happened and there's no sign it's going to happen. This isn't like me at all, but I've been involved in discussions about death and bereavement and it's reminded me of how old I am getting which means my Mum is in the later part of her life. I don't want to lose her and I don't think I will cope very well. Just putting down my thoughts where it's safe. I need to talk with my friend and get some perspective.

baubles Sun 21-Jan-18 04:50:09

Hope you manage to calm your thoughts Wilma, i find it difficult to quieten the ‘monkey mind’ at times.

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 21-Jan-18 04:55:23

Hello baubles, yes, it is like a troupe of monkeys in there tonight. How are you doing? Have you been able to make the arrangements for your Mum? flowers
