Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

Mine has often stuck to my pillow!

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 05-Jan-18 01:14:54

I have to visit the dentist every 3 months and use a prescription toothpaste. I know the throat sweets are part of the problem, but I rely on them to help me stop coughing in the night. This is a long standing problem and needs must. I try to use gum instead when I can and at least it only sticks to my teeth!

Bellanonna yep pillow is another spot. grin

IBS flared up yesterday , still with me , not caused by anything I ate , can't eat.

Bella you can buy a magnesium spray online from a company called Better you. You spray it directly on your skin, where it's supposed to be absorbed more easily. Can't say it's helped my insomnia though.

Thanks Suki, I’ll look into that. Happy to try anything

Sitting at the bedside of my MIL who is approaching the end of her long life. She is peaceful.

I've been having trouble getting to sleep. Usually I go off ok, but wake a good few times. Didn't sleep until around 4am, and up at half seven. sad

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 12-Jan-18 03:14:40

I think I jinxed myself earlier by saying that I was sleeping a bit better and coughing a bit less because I can't get a grip of the cough tonight.

Hope you are all in the Land of Nod. Zzzzzzzz

48 hours later and MiL is still with us although she hasn’t been conscious since Sunday.

Anniebach Fri 12-Jan-18 03:45:53

How is it going baubles ❤️

baubles Sat 13-Jan-18 23:23:36

Still here jogginggirl. I’ve no idea how long a person can cling on to life like this. She is being given fluids and oxygen and appears to be in a deep sleep.

jogginggirl Sat 13-Jan-18 23:38:23

It is amazing baubles how strong this generation is? We used to call my mum ‘the comeback kid’ she recovered so many times! But finally - she just went to sleep - peacefully and permanently? I miss her so much but would not want her back to suffer. I wish you, your m-i-l and your family a peaceful goodbye ?

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 14-Jan-18 00:28:31

That's hard baubles. {{{HUGS}}}

I just remembered that I read recently that it's quite common for someone to pass away when the family leaves the room. Some nurses think the dying person hangs on so there is no one from the family there at the final moments because it would be too distressing for the family.

I stayed 4 days and nights with my Dad before going home for a shower and he slipped away when I was coming back up in the lift. He wasn't alone though.

Wondering how things are baubles, my father “hung on” for 5 days, not on oxygen, but in a deep sleep.
I am eternally grateful that having sped back to Scotland despite the hospital telling me not to take any risks, assuring
me there”was no rush, he was unlikely to last the day/night” nevertheless I was able to spend the last 4 days and nights with him, and was there at the end.
However, we have no say in the timing of our end. Wishing you strength and comfort.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words. MiL died this morning, her breathing had changed during the night, every so often there was a pause and then she would take another breath until the moment when the next breath didn’t come.

Another funeral to arrange. sad.

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 16:26:06

Baubles, my condolences x. Now be kind to yourself

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 14-Jan-18 20:00:41

Baubles thank you for taking the time to tell us the news at such a sad time for you and your husband's family. I am sorry for your loss. flowers

JaneD3 Mon 15-Jan-18 00:28:19

Very sorry Baubles. My mum is still hanging in there - I just don’t know how. The doctor gave her just a few hours two weeks ago and we were planning her funeral in November 2016! Her heart beats strongly but nothing else functions any longer. As you say, a very strong generation.
