Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

grannyqueenie Fri 03-Nov-17 06:35:19

Annie my heart just goes out to you, I really hope you got some rest. x

Marmight Fri 03-Nov-17 22:58:34

AnnieI hope you manage to get some rest tonight. When my DH died suddenly and I didnt sleep for weeks, my GP gave me a prescription for zopiclone- just for 7 nights. I wasn't keen but after some time I took it. It helps.
Thinking of you...x

2.30am. mug tea. I miss talking to Honey in the nights. She use to lie next to me and put her head to the side listening. Lottie sleeps all night.

Our pets can be such a comfort can’t they and vice versa.
Another reason why I shall be glad when the fireworks “season” is behind us. Hattie discovered last night that she is indeed scared of the whooshes, and whees and bangs. I hated seeing her trembling and panting.
Glad she is asleep now though.
Thinking of you Annie I hope you get /got some rest.

Just read through all these posts - I guess I'm one of the 'lucky' ones who go to bed and sleep for a few hours but have been there and done that over the years and its hell. I've seen me working on spreadsheets at 3am worrying over cashflow when we were in business, being woken by OH snoring (been in separate rooms for some years which made a huge difference) been stood outside my parents house at 2 am waiting for the care team when they both had dementia and their personal alarm had triggered - mum was a terrible insomniac and was always up and down during the night all her life - she was in so much pain in her later years she still got up and used to fall. Then there have been my cats - this one is in my room and gets up at all hours to use the tray so have to get up and clean that and usually can't get back to sleep and the alarm goes off at 5 so little point in trying. On the whole I probably have 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night now but seem to have gotten used to functioning on it. Compared to you all I feel lucky with that. Annie my heart goes out to you especially - life is so unfair x

Beepingow battery on smoke detector, grumpy lurcher claiming most of my bed, very small but annoying sleep claiming problems here last night! Love to all with bigger problems though.

wot Sat 04-Nov-17 08:24:29

Here is grumpy (but loveable) lurcher!

3.30am and mug of tea . Blakes endless Night?

Marmight Sun 05-Nov-17 04:15:13

Hello Annie. I've been thinking about you (I've been awake since 1.30). I know how everything goes a round and round in your mind at this time of the night. All the what iffs. I hope the message from your daughter brings you some comfort. You have 100s of GNetters with you. Perhaps by now you have managed to drift off.. ..I hope so x

Hello Marmite and Annie I've been awake since 2-30ish.
Don't want to get up and disturb the two little DGD's who are sleeping here but would love a cup of tea, never mind. Have been reading and am now listening to the rain and trying not to think.

cornergran Sun 05-Nov-17 05:44:12

Hello anyone still awake, although hope you are all asleep now. Also plagued by night time circular thoughts. Flipping nuisance. Not trying to sleep now, I’d also love a cup of tea but know that would disturb Mr C. Not fair on him. So, reading via the iPad for a bit. Not long until I can reasonably get up now. Take care if you’ve had a bad night, rest at some point if you can.

Morning all. I haven’t been here for a while but I do pop in most mornings too see how you are. I don’t post because it seems quite smug to tell you all I’ve slept all night. Every time I get these phases of prolonged good sleep I tell myself I’ve cracked it but I never have. This has been an unusually long phase of good sleep. I should scroll back to see my last post to check but it’s too much trouble this early. This is one of the rare weekends that I haven’t had any of my grandchildren. Perhaps I sleep better when there here because they wear me out. Somtimes when their here I can’t wait for them to go home, when I don’t have them I miss them. There’s no pleasing me. I’ve been thinking about Annie too. I hope you’ve managed a little sleep you must be exhausted. Grief is so hard to bear and there is nothing I can say to comfort you. Hope the day ahead isn’t to hard for all you insomniacs.

Marydoll Sun 05-Nov-17 08:16:28

Good morning all, only up twice last night! Imagine being pleased at only being up and about twice. It could be that I was exhausted after two days of DGD!
Annie, I hope you can get some rest today. Enjoy your day , all.

Anniebach Mon 06-Nov-17 04:40:49

4.30 and mug of tea, been lying here for an hour , thought I would try to break the 3.00 - 3.30am tea but not good idea, just lay here for hour.

paddyann Mon 06-Nov-17 11:03:32

I've been trawling the internet looking for remedies for my daughters symptoms, one of which is insomnia.I dont know if any of you have heard of WEIGHTED BLANKETS? They seem to have medical support and great reviews ,although aren't suitable for some conditions.I'm about to order one for my daughter as I've been experimenting with extra weight on my bed for a few nights now and have found I sleep much better. The blankets online are heavy...some weigh up to 30pounds

paddyann Mon 06-Nov-17 11:05:04

should have said these are sold to help with anxiety issues too

Anniebach Tue 07-Nov-17 04:37:33

4.30am. Mug tea. Acid reflux really bad, can't be anything I ate , praps it's because I am not eating much.

wot Tue 07-Nov-17 05:06:04

Hi Annie, here I lay too! I dont think my dog is too well now. Sending you love and hugs. Think Ill go and make a coffee. X

Grandma70s Tue 07-Nov-17 05:50:00

Yesterday I managed to sleep, on and off, till 10 to six. I hoped I might have turned a corner. Today, it was 4.20 again. Fed up. Have had a cuppa, now to catch up on Twitter.

Marydoll Tue 07-Nov-17 07:41:13

Awake every hour on the hour.
My daughter's boyfriend asked my husband to keep today free. He asked me to make sure DH was ready for 7am complete with passport, but wouldn't say where they were going and that they would be back tonight. I was terrified that he would sleep in. It's all cloak and dagger and I have not to tell any of her siblings. confused.
By doing some detective work, I think he is taking my husband on a tour of distilleries on a Scottish island. There is a flight to Islay at 8.30am and one back later this evening.
I have a very strong feeling he is going to ask my daughter to marry him. I could be totally wrong! Watch this space!
I will now worry all day, that they will get back safely, as everything depends on the weather. The ferries were cancelled yesterday due to the weather. sad

cornergran Tue 07-Nov-17 07:55:15

Try not to worry. mary, it all sounds really exciting and I am sure the younger man won’t let your husband come to harm. Thinking about you Annie, please rest when you can.

Marydoll Tue 07-Nov-17 08:02:17

Thanks Cornergran. You know how we mums worry.
I already got the taxi pick up changed, after I had sussed out what flight they were getting. The younger man didn't realise how busy security is at that time of the morning at Glasgow.

Annie, it's very worrying that you are not eating, as well as not sleeping. You will need all your strength for the coming days.

cornergran Wed 08-Nov-17 01:41:32

I know it’s early and no one else will be about but just can’t sleep. Suspect i was given something with caffeine in at some point today, it always leaves me twitchy. I’m about to plug in the headphones and watch some very boring tv on iPlayer, may drift off then. Hope the adventurers returned safely, mary and you have managed to both eat and sleep a little annie: you are never far from my thoughts. It would be good if you were all asleep as I write this.

Shirleyw Wed 08-Nov-17 02:04:48

Sons alarm went off, looked at my clock and I ' thought' it read 5am so went downstairs to put kettle on....1.55 the clock says...still made a cuppa ...wide awake....

Shirleyw Wed 08-Nov-17 02:06:09

.......so morning cornergran ?
