Do you have anything odd in your sitting room?

I've got one of those gd. It belonged to my great aunt Sally and was her pride and joy. She left it to mum and I have had it since mum went in a home. I love it.

Two purses made of shells. Belonged to my grandmother. Absolutely unusable although both have pre-decimal coins in them. One was given to her by her brother later killed in WW1, the other by my grandfather. Both scruffy, totally out of place, but on display as I love them.

I have a vitrine with all the odds and ends that people give and sadly I don't often remember or look at it- DH family medals,Japanese temple drums,a cigar cutter. I'm off to have a look now.

A large Concorde windscreen section - very heavy. It needs two strong men to move it.

A bowl of shells and pebbles on the bathroom shelf picked up by me and small granddaughter on various French beaches.

A door stop in the shape of a squirrel ( daughters think it is hilarious but me and the grandchildren like it! )

A white champagne bottle kept after the New Year

A dresser full of Edgewood glass animals and shapes ( not made anymore collected over many years)

A wooden tumbling balls toy kept on the floor bought in Prague on holiday. Every visiting child makes a beeline for it, the balls make a great noise running down the side shapes and hit a bell at the bottom

An old cast iron, iron, used as a door stop, and a cabinet full of glass bits and pieces. I love coloured glass, but am going to 'distress' the cabinet. ( I have bought the masking tape)

I was going to say only me but that's been done already We have an old wooden chest, the sort of thing sailors went to sea with in Victorian times, it was bought when everyone was after a little bit of Victoriana, but of little value I imagine. It stands by the side of one of our sofas, the one I have designated as mine, on which stands a side light, it's also where I place my lap top for charging and keep any reading material. It's unobtrusive, next to a window and can't really be seen the sofa obsures it. My husband hates it, calls it a bit of old junk but I like it. Also a lovely blue bowl, which belonged to my grandmother, and I believe I was told belonged to her grandmother.

Oh forgot a few books on our shelves that belonged to respective parents and a couple passed down from grandparents.

The glass top is made from a bus windscreen, and my dad welded the metal into nice curvy shapes. I'm so pleased I took it: it fits perfectly into my flat, and looks great!

We have a small framed medal belonging to my partner's grandfather - he won it in a CIRCUS for STAYING IN A LIONS CAGE with a lion for a specific length of time, five minutes - he lived to tell the tail!

Don't think so but my neighbour has a church organ!

Beside my front path I have a 'flogging spanner' from an oil-rig, set on a concrete base. Originally a joke gift from a boss, it got so many disapproving looks from a former neighbour, that I set it in the cement just to irritate her!

Some lumps of lava from Vesuvius. In his career as a Latin teacher my husband must have gone there nearly 25 times.

Like Gagagran I have jars of the most beautiful coloured seaglass, also lots of shells too.

A treadmill.

My horses ashes; keep meaning to move her somewhere else but don't seem to get round to it. Was going to scatter her ashes in the field but, after she died it changed hands and all of her horsey pals moved away so I couldn't bring myself to take her there....

What is called a "Dockers Hook" used in the shipyards by OH's grandfather it was used to pull the hessian sacks from the cargo that was landed from the ships,it is so ugly that I place it behind photographs but every now and then OH finds it.
Also the wedding ring decoration that was on my mums wedding cake placed on a glass plinth it is nearly 70yrs old and very special.

In the China cabinet on the back wall of our living room is a plastic model of Tweety Pie, (you remember, I tought I taw a puddy tat) ?. It's very yellow, and looks out of place with all the collectible boxes and commemorative China mugs and cups.

My grandfather's cobbler's last is a doorstop. I have the original front page of our local newspaper 1954 framed and on the wall.

A large ornate clock on the sofa - it has no back to it so you can't tell the time if it's on the patterned wallpaper and can't find anywhere else to put it! A cat on the desk - whichever one I happen to be working on!

We have box of toys (mainly chewed) for the dog!

Just realised I misread the title of this thread, thought it said "old" not odd, so of course the things I described aren't particularly odd. I'm going away to write a 100 lines "I must read things properly" I'm definitely a bit odd, not just today, everyday

Like gillybob I have a very large glass jar nearly full of sea glass. It is not in the living room though but in the conservatory so the sun shines through it.
