Self Assembly furniture!

When did having to build your own furniture become the norm? As I don't watch a lot of TV I have quite a large DVD collection. I want to buy a cabinet to keep them in, one with doors so they are all tidied away BUT everything I look at is self assembly, even a cabinet costing close to £240. Why isn't furniture sold ready made any more?

Now I was married to a builder for 43 years so never had to acquire any d.i.y skills, I am someone who will use a knife as a screwdriver! The last time I bought something that had to be assembled I ended up getting someone in, who spent the first 10 minutes telling me bits were missing and that sprocket "a" didn't fit flange"b" (well it may not have been sprocket and flange as I wasn't really paying attention - by this time my eyes had glazed over, my brain had fogged up and I was wondering whether it was too early to open the wine!).

You're never too old to learn something new sunseeker. Treat yourself to a cordless screwdriver and your new cabinet will be up in no time - it's so easy!

I would send my D round to you. She loves a good flat pack smile
Your right though, there should be a choice.
