Coincidence or something more suspicious [hmm]

I went to John Lewis recently and wandered round looking at various items but didn't buy anything. The following day I received and email from JL promoting all the items I had been looking at. Then yesterday I was browsing another website and today I got an email offering me the item I has been looking at with a 10% reduction. Am I being paranoid or is someone tracking me?

It's not only products. I night go on one of the hotel booking sites to look for hotels and for weeks after hotels in that area pop up as ads. Then after I have already been to say Peterborough or Salamanca I get emails saying hotels prices in wherever are cheaper now.
