I'm an American who doesn't understand why you still have royalty in this day and age but I do see that they are involved in humanitarian causes. Beats what's going on over here. I say they must really want that next baby being that Kate gets so ill.

Why cant people live and let live.
No body can choose what their born into.
I for myself am happy for both wills and kate .
I also had HG .With both of my sons, and even lost two pregnancies who where girls.
I dont no if HG was related , but sticky blood was .
Im telling you now, that HG Is the most awful illness when one is expecting. With my 2nd son , I also had a toddler A house A job and parents to look after etc etc

I certainly don't look up to any of them. They are human beings like all of us although they are so far away from reality, they would be better off in Disneyland.

can I say I am NOT jealous of the royals or anyone else,have never been jealous of anyone in my life.I have a very good life with a great standard of living ...all worked for by my OH and me...for 50 years ..happy to have been able to achieve the life we have through our own effort,not because of who our family is .

Helmsley- Kate is very brave to elext for another child.

No one forced her. She and William chose to have another baby I assume.

She may be feeling wretchedly sick because she is pregnant, but she is being cossetted and monitored ALL THE TIME and has to do nothing but put her feet up. Her sickness will pass.

I am sorry, but in my book, that is NOT bravery.

Bravery is carrying on when all around you is in chaos, when your worries cloud your world but you keep going, when life is grim but you continue to support others, when you have crippling , chronic illness but try not to let it deter you from doing things, when you hit rock bottom but find the strength somewhere to cling on...

That is day to day braveness. Choosing to have another child when you live a privileged and pampered life is self-indulgence, something you choose to do.

Kate entered into this with her eyes open, and a team of doctors on constant standby, day and night (such privilege!) and someone else to clean up the vomit. All she has to do is rest.

Sorry for being blunt, but I know lots of people who are TRULY brave. Kate is not one of them.

Agree with day6 regarding Kate's 'bravery'.

If they're happy - fine. Boring!!

But wouldn't a thread be boring if it was just a long list of statements from people agreeing with each other.

Differences of opinion can be respectfully given though.
I totally agree with the idea that there are many people braver than Kate, with all the help she will be getting. I dont need to insult her, or anyone who believes she is brave.

I noticed this thread still has the occasional posts, but I can't see how our monarchy is any more or less 'brilliant' than any other European kingdoms.

In our case, since we have a constitutional monarchy, it is very much a political institution. Maybe on that basis, additional 'royal' babies is a political topic too?

Our neighbours Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands and Spain also have monarchies.

Kate didn't have HG with her two previous pregnacies she had morning sickness . Once she got past the first trimester she was back to her normal glowing life . Let's see what happens this time .

It's insulting to women who have suffered with HG . Vomiting day and night throughout their entire pregnancies , totally dehydrated , vitamin and iron deficient , bleeding gums and tongue , repeated hospitalisations , muscle loss , vomiting during labour , and having to be turned to the side to avoid chocking to death ...

Sorry, beg to differ. She was far from "blooming" except perhaps towards the very end of her pregnancies and even Royals are not hospitalised for "morning sickness"

well MawBroon I spent weeks in a hospital bed because of HG ,didn't put on weight and left hospital AFTER the birth almost a stone lighter than I had been before I was pregnant,so yes people ARE hospitalized for it and yes many suffered far worse than she appeared to.

In the past there have been deaths due to hyperemesis gravidarum ( In the whole North West Scotland there were 14 maternal deaths due to hyperemesis gravidarum between 1931 and 1940) but more knowledge and better treatments, such as intravenous nutrition to counter the almost total loss of nourishment, have made death extremely rare since 1955.

It is still a hellish condition!
