Definitely needs a nice anonymous forum, this! My daughter-in-law is pregnant! 11 years married to my DS, both very workaholic career people, she's now 42. I knew they had tried and it hadn't happened, but I had thought that was it, no children for them. She's just coming up to 12 weeks and they haven't told anyone other than us yet, so I can only share on here. Now I am so, so happy for them, and just very anxious that nothing goes wrong. Thank you, you may now clap.

How lovely that you are the first to know. Also it's so refreshing that they haven't spread the news the moment the pregnancy was confirmed - it seems that women are now pregnant for years before they give birth, as we are told almost from the day/night of conception.

Congratulations and best wishes to all.
I was at sea on a Baltic cruise when my son rang to tell me I was going to be a Grandma.
"Don't tell anyone he said."
I was travelling alone so told the fish .

So excited for you. My mother was 38, her twin was 40, and my best friends mother was 42 when they had all of us as first and only babies, and that ward the 40's. I am sure all will be fine. Enjoy!

Oh joy of joys. This gives me such hope. My son and daughter-in-law have been trying for some time with no success. I shall never give up hope. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Delighted for you and the parents . Insist on seeing the scans, do a bit of pampering of the mother to be. Pedicures are nice. Locate the family cradle if there is one. Cast an eye over the latest in prams or whatever. Have loads of fun.

Wonderful and so exciting for you

Skweek1 Sun 03-Sept-17 10:36:51

Brilliant - but don't blame them for not wanting to tell people at this stage. I was hopping mad with DH when his grandmother asked at 8 weeks if I was expecting (she was a nurse/midwife). Hadn't even told him and prone to miscarriages, so wanted to be sure. He immediately confirmed the good news. Hope all will go really well.

Caro1954 Sun 03-Sept-17 10:42:36

Delighted for you and them. Friends of mine reached 40 with no sign of a baby and didn't seem bothered and then suddenly she was expecting twins conceived naturally.
