Mobile phone manners

With the increase in use of technology and mobile phones I have found myself in a dilemma with one or two friends. I love seeing my mates and having a good chat, however, a couple of my friends always pull out their phones and start showing dozens of pictures of whatever event
/DGC etc we are discussing. Also, if someone texts or phones while we are chatting, then off they go into the corner and carry on a conversation with them. Even when eating lunch a 'beep' has priority. It's lovely to see a few pictures etc to see how things are going, but it gets tedious watching someone scroll through dozens. Tactful suggestions anyone?

At the GP Surgery where I work, it's not unusual for patients in the waiting room to phone someone for a chat to pass the time, loudly giving all others waiting no option but to hear all their conversations. What amazes me most is when the doctor comes to the door and calls their name, they carry on chatting as they gather up their stuff and walk into the consulting room, ignoring the doctor making small chat to them as they go! The doctors tell me they might finally end their chat when the GP pointedly asks them "How can I help"!!!
